wafflebI enjoy watching guys make out, and I was still a bit put off by DJC's image - regardless of the joke. You probably lost quite a few potential viewers for that reason.
TF2 has a lot of kids whose egos haven't fully developed so they're unduly defensive, generally quite trollable and fighty. I wouldn't pander to them though. They'll grow up.
Have a segment "Invite Rumours with DJC".
If Enigma really wants this site to be used by Europeans he would make the users' countries determined by IP rather than choosable from a list. At the moment it's a totally random process getting the correct information to people.
He's entertaining. You and Cbear are more like moderators. Maybe you could get a random guest who would chatter away engagingly but you're as likely to find a crazy stoner.
You can actually write a Mumble bot and skip IRC entirely. http://gitorious.org/mumble-scripts/mumo
Good. Wouldn't work without DJC though.
Shiftachocolate reign
I change my vote to this.
If you're actually in Portugal you could try my mix group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/nlpg. If you prefer highlander there isn't a good low-level European option yet, but HL lobbies are less horrible than 6v6 so you may as well keep playing them.
Also the forums here may be more useful: http://etf2l.org/forum/
swiperIf captains and Mumble are integrated, what is the difference from tf2mix?
I hadn't heard of tf2mix. It's American-only and requires IRC. A global version using a slick web interface is exactly what we're all looking for.
Regarding the name, if you say "TF2 center dot com" a lot of the world will instinctively spell it differently. So yeah it's a bad name. Captains and Mumble are necessary.
Without Mumble and some kind of captain system any lobbies will quickly devolve into the angry messes you see on tf2lobby. The problem with tf2lobby isn't the "buggy and slow site", which is actually better than any other PUG software, as the size of its regular userbase demonstrates, but rather the lack of psychological structure imposed on the players (who are new or random and can't be expected to adopt useful team roles themselves). Tf2lobby failed because it's just technology.
Nice one!
But I switched to Rayshud. Its like Broesel with updates.
The phongless pack is really good too. http://gamebanana.com/skins/95889
