If you've actually played the build and then played 5.0 you'll notice the difference, and TruckJitsu has taken high speed footage that clearly shows the polling rate gecko code isn't the only factor in lag reduction.

Truck has pretty obviously made some poor choices in making his download only available after joining the discord and he's not a very good spokesman, but if you play the build the lag reduction is obvious.
Even if you don't find the lag reduction important enough, I think having a dolphin download with all of the netplay settings already in place, and being able to play melee on full 16:9 widescreen is reason enough to use it.
