forgive me if you've tried this already but have you tried alternating between different dxlevels? do you use steam cloud? it could be keeping certain settings when you reinstall
have you gone as far as trying to play on a fresh windows install? that would 100% tell you if its your hardware or your settings/programs

create LodAdj string set to 15 or 0 insnstant lod change no reboot, only close/open your game. LOD with lastest drivers ez. no soft, only for pro pc users. welcome to the regedit.
on ati lod 10 is hardware.
No idea if this works or not, found it on another thread for you.

mastercomshi_It's really a shame that are forced to use the vpk in order to have the most updated version. I don't want all the commands that are included and would like to be able to remove them.What commands do you not want? You can use the no-preset VPK in order to have an entirely custom config.
I don't want any of the sound changes.
I don't know how to edit VPK's so I would still be forced to have all that stuff I think.

catfacei've posted way to much here already but i'll leave it on this. you got shit talked in a pub 90% by a friend of mine and maybe 10% by me, and you were so enraged by this that you sought out my profile personally and posted on it, and then looked me up on a video game forum and continued to shit talk me after i told you that i wasn't even the person that you had beef with. i really don't see everyone's attraction with creating beef with me.
it seems like you escalate stuff, i don't know who you are, there is no "beef"
also if everyone seems to be causing "beef" and being an asshole to you it's because you're the asshole and you're unaware of it

Are there any relatively new versions without everything commented out and aren't using aliases?
I personally liked to go through it and pick and choose things I needed based on their category in the config, but now you have things that are related to each other in different parts of the config.
