#102 TF2 update for 7/28/16 in TF2 General Discussion
mousiopegod forbid they take advice by watching the actual competitive scene, that has developped and been around with 0 of their support, and actually give it some support

I remember a time where there wasn't even mp_tournament mode, that was brought in by demand of the early competitive scene, just like cvars for criticals and random spread etc. So it's not 0 support. Just very basic.

#2 Connection failed after 4 retries issue in Q/A Help

I had a similar problem occasionally with Luxembourg servers, but only with official valve servers. I just could not join them at times. No fix anywhere.

#12 Mices with best sensors in Hardware

IME is fine if you don't move your mouse faster than 1.5 m/s, but that is rather slow. Most modern mice can track much higher speeds.

Just check Overclock.net for mouse related stuff, there's a thread currently about upcoming 3360/3366 mice.

The problem with those lists/tiers in general is that mice are a very subjective issue. Best sensor in a garbage shape won't help you and vice versa. And there is no such thing as a flawless sensor.

#19 We need a new caster in TF2 General Discussion
TuryIdk if this is just me but I kinda like it when casters shout and get really excited like that, it really hypes up the game imo

It should not be overboard though. Excitement yes, but not like those retarded "goooooooaaaaaaalllllll" casters for SA football games. That's just annoying.

#20 Turkey soldiers launch 'illegal action' in World Events

The Turkish military had previously stated that the undemocratic and Islam oriented politics of Erdogan are not to their liking.
Maybe now they act on this?

#41 Valve give us viewmodel options&community support in TF2 General Discussion

It should all be unlocked. Not for any political reason but because freedom to customize is beautiful.

That being said I think min_viewmodels are alright, I don't care if they depict where the projectile come from as long as they are out of the way.

#29 Growing the tf2 community in TF2 General Discussion
GazInoI don't think LANs are the way to generate interest for the general public in TF2 competitive because most people don't really care for LANs at all. Only those who already have a genuine interest in competitive play do and they will most likely already know all about 6s.

You need online advertisements so even the most casual user at least knows that there is comp and what it looks like. That way you draw in new people. LANs only keep in those already invested in the game, which is obviously also needed.

Wrong.
LANs are always more popular than league games. DHS was a huge success considering past tournaments outside of insomnia weren't as popular. Also, theres enough advertisement and I fully expect i58 to get around 10k average.
Just look at OW, on average the league games get like 2k viewers more than TF2 league matches.
What is really missing is the prize pools. Big e-sports organizations bring in more viewers/players and create a look of "professionalism", which also creates more interest.
Someone (on tftv?) suggested that valve should use a small portion of the TF2 earnings to support tournaments. I think b4nny should talk with them about this, considering they don't listen to his weapon balancing ideas anyway.

If you want people to just watch: LANs/majors are the thing to go for. But you only reach those already invested.
If you want people to participate: you need something else to draw in those not currently interested in comp.

Good thing, I despise gambling in general so I'm happy if these things are eliminated.

#36 Magnum HUD in Customization
JarateKingAlright I more thoroughly updated for MYM now. Everything should be in working order.
Are you using the 1920x1080 resolution override? If not, what OS and whatnot are you using?

Oh, I only checked the override folder, didn't see the resolution stuff. Works as intended now.
Another thing that happens now is that when I switch to another hud the "news" panel in the main menu is a blank entry and when you click "Read More" there it links to this thread here. That behavior stays the same even with default hud.

#203 MAJOR TF2 update for 7/7/16 (Meet Your Match) in TF2 General Discussion
hookyMedusahookyFor the record, CSGO also forces viewmodels.Counterstrike has had forced viewmodels ever since the very first CS, TF2 has had 7 years of now viewmodels until this dumb change came around.Sorry, I never played the older versions of CS. Makes it weirder why TF2 allowed viewmodels to be disabled in the first place though, but maybe it's just because Valve considered it a casual game at the time.

Because TF2 is much closer to Quake which had everybody disable viewmodels early on. CS is a completely different type of FPS game.
