I've got the SR850, it's very nice. Standing around in snakewater middle, I can hear the waterfall from second. It's easier to notice the background audio for anime in all sorts of scenes.
As for comfort, it's got a very large driver but the padding wasn't deep enough for my ears so I inserted some cotton to make more room. It's very comfortable.
I've never tried an Ad 700/900 though.
Is he playing in fullscreen have him try in windowed. Try running steam with administrator rights.

Use Hardware monitor to check your temps AS you're playing...Not idle temps...
Let's just say my copy of windows wasn't "genuine". I got another copy of windows and made it into a bootable USB drive again

DrewSpaceCadetYour DPI doesn't play a factor. If your mouse behaved fine before then there is no reason to change your settings now.jp_What's your mouse's polling rate and DPI.
If it's below 1ms (100hz), raise it to it.
Try increasing your DPI to see if it helps.
I had no idea your DPI could play a factor. I happen to use the lowest setting DPI for my mouse, 400. I had trouble tweaking my sensitivity at higher DPI settings. I couldn't get the feel just right for RJing. Either I would turn too much or too slowly.
However, I will try this and if it fixes the stuttering problem, I will put in more time to find the sensitivity to move normally.

You must have a good 1000Hz mouse to get the maximum LightBoost benefit, though:
1. Test strafe left/right with keyboard
2. Test turn left/right with mouse
If your mouse is not as smooth as keyboard, you need to upgrade to a 1000Hz gaming mouse. When playing at 120Hz, especially LightBoost, your mouse (stutters) can become the the weak link in motion fluidity. Also, raise hardware mouse sensitivity AND reduce in-game software mouse sensitivity (should be 5% or 10% setting in Team Fortress 2's menu), to fix mouse stutters. Then your mouse is buttery smooth, like holding down a key to move.
What's your mouse's polling rate and DPI.
If it's below 1ms (1000hz), raise it to it.

I agree, but maybe times have changed with the risk of overclocking being reduced with each new family of CPUs. I recall days when overclocking was for low end cpu's to match up to high end counterparts with fraction of the cost or for squeezing the life out of EOL products... anyways extra performance immediately out of the box? Sounds pretty good, but I still wouldn't do it. Especially during the summer x|.
I'd go with two 500gb disks over a single large one. Redundancy...
No SSD, but I suppose the budget it already full...
Thing I hate about steam mover is having to download the entire game before being able to create symbolic/hard links. I just make the links myself...not too hard. Just make the folders and steam will make download properly. There's also steam's library function with the new content delivery system, it only works on games that have been converted to it though.

no, except bandwidth limitations of the interface your external is connected to.
Oh and your links wont work if your mount points (drive letters) are different from what the link was created with.
Is this different than using -insert_search_path...
