theres 2 ways

use a font with only numbers in it.

or look for "TF_playerid_mediccharge_wpn" in your huds tf_english.txt and remove the "(%s2)" part after it.
if your hud doesnt have a tf_english.txt copy paste the one from ur tf/resource folder and put it in huds resource folder and then do it.

where do I edit the background for the ready up panel?

in clientscheme.res "TFFatLineBorderRedBG" for red and "TFFatLineBorderBlueBG" for blu. they also control the backgrounds for tournament spectator mode
