#83 Transparent Viewmodels in any HUD in Customization

No real idea but that error message sounds to me like you messed up a bracket in HudLayout.res. Can you put your hudlayout into a pastebin and post the link to the pastebin here?

#1207 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization
ConkerHello! Been tweaking bwHUD, adjusting things in different directions, got everything almost right where I want it, except:

http://imgur.com/pDfAqpl

I can't find the option anywhere to adjust that percentage counter to the right, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

To move everything related to medic's uber (the bar in the middle, the big percentage, the small percentage) open up HudLayout.res and ctrl+f for HudMedicCharge. To move one of those things open up HudMedicCharge.res and move whichever element you'd like.

No prize pool reduction means top 4 all make bank, here's hoping people still take this season seriously.

Hud Editing Bible
for future reference use this thread.

1). this explains it, you'll want to swap the ypos values of CSecondaryTargetID and CMainTargetID in HudLayout.res in the scripts folder.
2). Go to HudLayout.res: HudPlayerStatus is the positioning of health/class images, HudWeaponAmmo is ammo, HudMedicCharge is uber %.
3). BaseChat.res

Fiddle with xpos and ypos to change positioning, zpos is if you want to make something above or below something else. Type hud_reloadscheme in console after changing the file to apply your changes and readjust.

#414 Valve and Competitive TF2 in News
DemariniYou do realize this will be 9v9 right?
Matchmaking WILL be 9v9.
Valve has never cared about the competitive community, in CS or in TF2, hell, not even in Dota.
They care about their wallets, and if they can exploit the competitive as a means to an end, they will do it in a heartbeat.

Oh shit dude you were at the meeting and talked to Valve about this stuff?!?! That's sick bro. You know what you should do? You should host a talk show type thing explaining to everybody exactly what happened at the meeting so people don't spread blatant misinformation! Like a podcast. Would really help people from jumping the gun. Thanks, god bless.

TwitchIs it at all possible to use a hud crosshair with one weapon, but not with another?

http://huds.tf/forum/showthread.php?tid=23&pid=45#pid45

ctrl+f for toggling.

long story short you can switch between two hud crosshairs at will (on a weapon-to-weapon basis) and have another thats on for some classes and off for other classes.

#110 TF2 Legacy videos, round 2! in Videos

I feel like Bradford "pure aka genevieve aka pyyyour aka a_whale" Ross deserves a video, but as far as I can tell he has 8 clips, some labeled "pure", some labelled "pyyyour", and one labelled "pyyour". Is that enough?

#25 Best 6v6 map in Map Discussion
KanecoBut I dont agree it's unintuitive, if it feels that way for you it's probably because you haven't played it enough, after a certain level you just know how to deal with most the situations, now if you aren't able to execute them as a team, that's a different thing.

This doesn't accurately address the criticism of badlands being "unintuitive". Intuitive means it can be understood instinctively, or at the very least easily. Saying that he doesn't understand the map because he hasn't played it enough actually supports his argument; you're declaring, in effect, that one needs to have played the map to be able to "deal with most situations", which is pretty much the definition of unintuitive (or at least the best one I can think of for this specific scenario).

I don't really have a position on this because whether or not something is intuitive depends on the person, in my opinion, but I felt this should be addressed. Just because you can play Badlands doesn't make it intuitive.

is it possible to have something like this but somehow just manipulate the names on the scoreboard to be placed on some corner while youre playing

i cant really focus when i tab and i usually need to check whos alive/dead and spawns to make calls because just having the names on the screen conveniently would help me alot since i have an attention deficit disorder

unfortunately not really possible afaik. sorry

#29 minHUD beta in Customization
WiethoofdAfter checking this hud out for the 21:9 issues I found that the easiest fix is just to make the bars/elements the desired width and then "xpos" "c-(wide/2)" and be more consistent with the relative to center offsets.

That's my fault, I assumed that they were already set up with c values and they hadn't worked for the charge bars due to the poster using custom values in launch options, which has previously broken charge bars for me on custom resolutions. I guess nowadays I assume most huds use c-values and aren't sloppily set up, should have checked though. Nice catch!

#26 minHUD beta in Customization
AffanAny help would be tremendously appreciated.

I'm not the maker of this hud but any release he publishes will either be broken for you on your resolution or for everybody else on more standard resolutions, so unless min feels like pushing a version essentially just for you (my guess is he doesn't) you're going to have to fix it yourself. If you sit down and dedicate yourself to it then moving all the charge bars shouldnt take too long, maybe a half hour if you're super slow, more likely fifteen minutes.

  1. Here's a link with an intuitive table that you can use to find out what file controls each weapon's meter; I'd recommend you try starting out with hudlayout.res in scripts.
  2. Then simply ctrl+f for what it says under HudLayout entry (maybe try HudItemEffectMeter first as that controls a ton of them) and play around with xpos.
  3. To play around with it change it by about twenty then open up the console and type "hud_reloadscheme". The bar will have moved by a bit.
  4. Repeat until it's in a position you like.
  5. Then, if you want all the meters in the same spot horizontally, which you most likely do, simply copy that value you just used for xpos and use them for all the other entries in hudlayout.res.
  6. This will fix ~most~ of the meters, you might need to play around with the files called huditemeffectmeter_something.res in resource/ui.
  7. All the information you need to do every meter in the game is in the link.

Other things of note:

  • Open these files up with notepad+ (regular notepad might work but sometimes has issues with tf2 .res files).
  • Make sure to move everything that has an entry in HudLayout.res FIRST. If you do that you can just position one meter and then copy/paste the same value to move all meters the same distance in the x direction (horizontally). Saves you time and makes it clean.
  • Only other thing to look out for is if the meters are overlapping vertically IE if, when using two items with meters at a time, one covers up the others. If that is the case then the value that controls vertical positioning is simply ypos. You can play around with it the same as xpos.

The loadout screen is a bit trickier, I'm not sure what exactly it normally looks like (and it's not as straightforward) but if you do some reading in doodle's guide (feel free to add me for additional help) you could fix that yourself too, even possibly pretty quickly, especially if I, or someone else who knows what they're doing, walks you through it.

EDIT: added some more things to consider and reformatted for readability
