rate 170016 is pointless because virtually every server limits it to a max of 100000
cl_smooth is preference and makes no difference on network performance
on another note, I notice some servers lately blocking cl_interp_ratio 2 (always stays at 1 when you try to change it) so I've had to go back to using cl_interp when I want to change lerp, can anybody else confirm this?

InoWhat exactly do these -force variables do? Do you have a source for that?
allegedly tells the game that you have different hardware than you do, which stops it from choosing not to render certain particles (for who knows what reason)
anyway doesn't matter because after 3 hours of trying every combination of dxlevel and config known to mankind I can't make tf2 anything other than unplayably laggy
oh and new mantreads completely ruin any fun I might have had with them with that awful whistling noise when you fall
fps is appalling now, new main menu causes freezes and stuttering if left alone, half of the new particles don't show up half the time, and the only solution anybody offers is DURR JUST PLAY IN DX95 AND LOSE ANOTHER 100 FPS
