#13 Newbie Mix Coaching Incentives in TF2 General Discussion
capnfapni think some people dont want to coach newbie mixes because a lot of the players dont do their own basic research before joining. You should make all of the newbies take this quiz before they are allowed to play

http://goo.gl/forms/4ADQl5e5BC

This is actually a legit idea! When i coached briefly before it was hard to explain anything if players didnt know the basics, ive coached rugby for a long time and its the same idea, players have to have a base knowledge before coaching can be an effective way to improve

#53 ESEA S19 LBF – froyotech vs. The Five Dollar Club in Matches
Knuckles_Luc, I think you're focusing on a facet of this debate that isn't as important as you think it is. No one here is saying it is specifically tri or killing's fault that the client isn't updated. If it is one man's job to keep a piece of technology updated, they should be the ones that are on top of that. What we ARE saying is that we don't know what the TF2 admins are doing. And you are no different. You can't say this:
Ya they were informed, of course they were
if you aren't tri or killing. You're giving a lot of credit when one of the admins was playing DOTA during the 2nd most important match of the season. That is irresponsible at best.

ya fair enough, I understand what you guys are saying and I can't speak for killing but I know shooter and tri are very active and helpful admins and if there was more they could do about this situation Im sure they would.

BUICKlucrativeI 100% agree with you, but I also know for a fact that shooter and tri are always informing the programmers of the updates and at that point its really out of their hands as the tf2 admins.
So you 100% know that when the update happened 5 days ago they (the programmers) were told to update the servers by the TF2 admins? Even if this is true, you'd imagine a follow up inquiry would be needed based on how bad they've

Ya they were informed, of course they were, maybe more follow up was needed but you guys are all acting like there was virtually no activity from TF2 admins. Im not defending ESEA or saying that what is going on isn't unprofessional or irritating but you guys are really going out of your way to put the blame on tri and killing in something that is basically out of their control.

#47 ESEA S19 LBF – froyotech vs. The Five Dollar Club in Matches
Knuckles_We aren't asking them to communicate with us the status of the client. It really shouldn't ever come to that. The communication needs to be from the admins to the programmers. Outside of a late night update there is NO excuse that the client isn't updated. Valve has a service to give early notice on updates (that is how wickedplayer is so fast), and tftv is super active whenever there is an update. Even if the programmer doesn't keep up with it the admins should be on top of it and bother them over and over until it's fixed. And if admins are afraid of bothering a programmer to do their job you shouldn't be an admin of anything...

I 100% agree with you, but I also know for a fact that shooter and tri are always informing the programmers of the updates and at that point its really out of their hands as the tf2 admins. ESEA prolly has all their guys focused on all the cs go servers and updates unfortunately, but our TF2 admins are certainly informing the programmers of required updates. Once again its the fault of ESEA at its core not our TF2 admins.

#44 ESEA S19 LBF – froyotech vs. The Five Dollar Club in Matches
BLoodSireI'm not so sure it isn't their job. One of the things I discussed with ESEA when trying to become an admin myself was greater transparency between the league and the community. The TF2 admins can't go update the client, that shouldn't be expected. But they should be serving as the line of communcation between the league and the players. This is playoffs, invite playoffs: the most important time for everyone involved with ESEA TF2. You would think the TF2 admins would be ensuring the functionality of the esea client via communicating through the appropriate channels; and should they be unable to have the client determined as functional, they should be communicating with the players, the broadcasters, somebody on the community side, to ensure 15 people do not set aside time to participate in a thing that will not be happening, and the thousands interested in seeing the thing do not keep getting their hopes up.

I'm sure the current ESEA TF2 admins have their own frustrations, and it wouldn't be right to peg this just on them, but I still feel that lack of transparency and communcation with the TF2 community is damning as well as mind-boggling..

honestly I couldn't agree more with you, but really what are they going to "communicate" thats going to make the situation better? tell you that its being worked on when you already know its being worked on? They have 0 power when it comes to fixing or updating the client/servers so I really don't understand the witch hunting. I can't speak for killing cause I don't ask him for help much but tri is ALWAYS on point when asking him to take care of reschedules, tickets or problems within his capability.

The situation sucks, and I agree that it sucks, but everyone needs to chill and realize that our three tf2 admins make up a tiny percentage of the ESEA company and its not all on them to make everything magically work, this is a problem with ESEA at its core not our community admins. so please stop the bandwagon hate, they do as much as they are capable of doing.

(also why is everyone saying its tri and killings job to make sure the client updated? it literally isn't)
