for the record this game has by far the friendliest and most bitch-made community i've ever been a part of. in the vast majority of cases in tf2 people who get "bullied" have this happen because they're shitwagon assholes, etc etc etc. people get legitimately upset when you call them bad or talk shit. it's hilarious.

SideshowHeavy on viaduct is gonna be such bullshit now. Other team will be forced to run a heavy or sniper to counter due to the huge damage reduction from demoman, and we'll see the slowest games ever.
or good teams will focus the heavy with reduced sticky damage and still kill him. pipes are still a thing too. heavies dont move very fast, especially when spun up.

-Even worse close combat
Mids are kind of a joke, the damage still has to be dealt somehow, so nerfing the biggest damage dealer in the game won't make the game faster or more agressive, other classes will end up having to compensate for the damage the demo is lacking so you will end up with mids similar in time or even longer
This is from what I saw / experienced so far.
not as effective at choke spam = chokes more open = more pushing. calling "spam" a playstyle is kind of a joke.
they're just as effective if you actually hit the sticky. kritz is high risk high reward.
should be terrible close combat. was always supposed to be. that's not playstyle, that's positioning. don't put yourself in a spot to take a close range 1v1.
mids aren't a joke, 2-3 good stickies just no longer insta-win.
like i said before, playstyle wise the only thing that has to change is demos have to play smarter and position themselves better. mechanically he still operates identically. aim better.
i've kept it pretty civil in all of my posts but you saying that demo lost the ability to choke spam and in the same post saying that losing that ability doesn't promote aggressive/faster play makes me think you're not very bright.
hildreth serious question: in what way will you have to adjust your play at all? I mean aside from having to position yourself smarter because you cant 2 shot a scout with stickies at your feet anymore.
nothing will change in how people play demo (if they dont want to that is) and it'll be fine. heavies will not suddenly be a staple of 6's because any coordinated team will focus him down, regardless of whether the demo is doing 50 or 100 with stickies.
so throw out some defensive stickies and then pull out your pipes and hope that you hit 2 because you put yourself in a position to get rushed by a scout. this is a misplay on the demos end, the scout should be rewarded, not the demo.
let's also not forget that with this new nerf we could see the importance of demo drop significantly in some team's eyes, while others still prioritize them.
could be interesting to see roam style demos on pushes just bombing in and doing as much dmg as possible to open up a push against the defensive demo hoping one of his traps connects to shut the other team down. plus we'll see more pipes so that'll be legit.
that will not happen kace. demo still fastest to mid, can still lock down areas, and still does good damage, just not "holy fucking shit" level damage.
from that video someone posted well aimed stickies do 70 dmg close range. you still 2 shot scouts. the "we need better close range ability" argument is hilarious. you're supposed to get raped when you put yourself in a spot to get bombed/rushed.
start aiming stickies better and your damage will still be around everyone else's. having all the classes putting out similar dpm isn't the worst thing in the world.
#485: yes, everyone will now have to aim to get kills on off uber pushes, and fights will last longer. there will also be a ton more opportunities to push off uber because of the lowered demo dmg.
btw to the EU guys posting in here...you folks rejected unlocks and played vanilla for how long? i get the feeling that any change to the game that you can't cvar/whitelist out is going to upset you. just because you now have to adapt your playstyle from "heal the shit out of the demo at all times" to something new doesn't mean the game's fucked. try having a more open minded approach :)

cool, the pocket has more damage loaded than the demo. he also has to be in very close range to do that damage, and in most situations while in that close of range will never get off those 10 total shots before dying (excluding getting ubered obvi).
CliveBut they are wiping out stickies completely by saying that. Imagine if they nerfed the sniper rifle to not headshot at like 20 feet. "Oh well you will have to use SMG now, nuts." Doesn't make sense, people who have been playing for 7 years are now fucked over by this.

there's still 400 damage loaded into a single clip of left click right click stickies. ~800 total damage between pipes and stickies in a single clip IF you dont splash anything and insta det every sticky. not to mention sticky traps and the fact that direct pipes have no damage falloff. i'm pretty sure the demo mains out there will somehow find a way to adjust.
sorry, but comparing headshotting a moving class to lobbing stickies into a general area of players and right clicking is kind of moronic.
if you've been playing demo for 7 years and can't figure out how to play around a damage nerf you should probably call it quits.
dunno why people are losing their shit over this, it's not like they gave demo a 2 clip sticky or some shit...he still plays exactly the same, except with lowered damage so you can, ya know, push forward even though the other teams demo is alive.
real talk though its insane to me that people are so against nerfing a weapon that requires such little precision. you can miss high, low, left, or right but if you det at the right distance you still do good damage. and if its just a botched sticky fuck it just leave it there and maybe someone runs over it later, which is now rewarded with damage ramp up :) that's fucking nuts.
try looking at the situation without bias before you go and post shit fella.
