#13 TF2 Update on Matchmaking in TF2 General Discussion

the mm system NEEDS 10 placement matches and a revamped rank system like dota/cs. people who play right now and hold a 50% winrate (common for mm systems like valve's) will always be fresh meat and play with players who might not be at their skill level.

i'm happy they're addressing a lot of the problems mm has but this is easily the biggest imo.

#39 Valve to start shutting down gambling sites in TF2 General Discussion

https://blog.twitch.tv/twitch-and-third-party-terms-of-service-and-user-agreements-b9827599e0fc#.6blst92e6

As a reminder, per Twitch’s Terms of Service, broadcasters are not permitted to stream content that breaks the terms of service or user agreements of third-parties. As such, content in which the broadcaster uses or promotes services that violate Valve’s stated restrictions is prohibited on Twitch.

#8 Our entire production crew has made an ow org... in TF2 General Discussion

just fyi there are more people involved in tftv production than just these dudes. (not to undermine their achievements, naturally) and these guys are still passionate about tf2 and working behind the scenes in tf2. don't take insight's existence as them giving up tf2 forever because that's not what it's about from what i understand.

#70 The Highlander Open #2 Sponsored in TF2 General Discussion
kKaltUuThere was/is little indication that matchmaking is going to be released soon (before the end of the year at least), and if it is, it will probably include 9v9 as the dropdown shows. Plenty of reason to push the either gamemode (we give both the same amount of attention). As for the numbers, the carrot is the word competitive, it's not like the group would be empty if it was any format apart or instead of 6v6.

where are you getting this information from? we have good reason to believe the update is extremely soon if not this week. (most likely, unless something goes wrong internally)

completely setting aside the fact that valve has said to enigma and others directly that highlander is not their vision of the game and that they disagree with the "all classes are equal, class limit 1" reasoning that highlander gives, how do you honestly expect a 9v9 queue to go? having to find two of each class, at a somewhat similar skill level, in the same region? the queue time would be ridiculous at non-peak hours for the playerbase tf2 has, and good luck getting all those players to stay throughout the whole match. valve could remove all the class limits from a 9v9 queue but what's the point in playing it over 6v6 at that point? this is completely ignoring the fact that highlander is an undesirable format for spectators and is impossible to properly spectate. (from personal experience)

i appreciate that you're passionate about highlander and i can definitely appreciate people who want to play their favorite classes in a way that they are competitively viable, but pushing this format over a better one like 6v6 that's being actively promoted and supported by the developer is an absolute waste of time and will divide the community even further. this is not me being "elitist" about any format; i'm just trying to support what's best for the side of the game that we all enjoy playing.

sorry for this long post but i wanted to get some of these thoughts out here.

#26 tftv twitch reruns? in TF2 General Discussion

all the esea twitch vods are completely unmuted since i use royalty-free music (just in case my local copy gets corrupted for whatever reason, which has happened multiple times) and i can start clipping the online vods more if we start doing playlists. i'm not sure if we can get the same free use music thing going in eu casts (i can provide my playlist which is pretty large if needed) but that would make it really easy to just highlight matches and do reruns automatically.

#59 "Matchmaking will fail" - Muselk in TF2 General Discussion
mousiopewhy are you guys comparing a new game that just came out at the time and was starting to grow with a game thats been out for 10 years ?

because csgo was panned on launch and 1.6 and source (separately) had more players than csgo a few weeks after it launched. that changed when valve dropped some gigantic updates for the game.

#45 "Matchmaking will fail" - Muselk in TF2 General Discussion

i made a short blog post about this just to get it off my chest. most likely i've repeated what others have said, but i hope it's informative for some people. also sorry if i fuck up anything, this was more of an "in the moment" thing.

#13 Update speculation in TF2 General Discussion

i think this is obvious but please take this with a gigantic grain of salt. half of this is just seemingly wild speculation and the other half is obvious stuff (like "weapons with lower usage will be buffed", like no fucking shit). not sure why valve would talk with a random youtuber with less than 20k subs and barely 100 viewers on twitch on a good day about stuff that not even the tftv staff know about.

seems like nothing more than a poor attempt to increase viewership.

also wolf said i can post this so i'll just leave this here:

21:37 - Fr0z3nR: Yea, so apparently he said that he got info from one of the map makers from snowplow
21:37 - Fr0z3nR: Which would be YM or I
21:37 - Wolf Machina | Essentials.TF: yeah exactly xD
21:37 - Fr0z3nR: Neither of us have him on our friends list afaik.
21:37 - Wolf Machina | Essentials.TF: I have both of you
21:37 - Fr0z3nR: And I didn't know of the guy until today.

yttriumdishonored 2 looks good. happy for quake, and fallout 4 being on the vive means they're probably going to push an engine update that fixes high frame rate speedup, which is nice. skyrim remastered could be decent if mods are easily ported over, because fallout 4 brought a lot of great engine improvements.

wanted TES 6 though, but i guess it's too soon for that.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/06/13/e3-2016-bethesda-is-working-on-the-elder-scrolls-6 apparently its a few years off, which explains why they're remastering skyrim. they can take all the time they need, i just hope it turns out good.
