I may be thinking overly optimistically here, but is it possible that Valve is purposely holding off on releasing the pyro update because of i61? It would actually be pretty impressive if their reasoning was holding off to avoid shaking the meta right before the largest competitve TF2 event of the year. Maybe that's getting my hopes up but who knows. I was pretty impressed by the last blog post; it has me thinking that maybe Valve has revamped their interaction strategy with the community.

Yeah man I'd say you're absolutely ready. There isn't a set "hour requirement" for playing competitive tf2; technically you could play with 20 hours. (You just probably wouldn't have the best experience) If you feel like you have a basic grasp of the fundamentals of the game and you want to improve then go for it. I'm not too familiar with the scene over in Asia but I think asiafortress.com is sorta the main hub for comp tf2 over there. You can join a team that's looking for players for the start of the next season or find some like-minded individuals and build a team yourself. Also if you're in the Philippines you may be able to play ozfortress (the australian league) but I'm not sure how your ping would be.
As for servers that you should spend your time on, MGE servers are great for improving DM and jump servers will help your movement out a lot. DM servers are useful too (not sure how wide of a selection there is for asian players)
Good luck and have fun!
It seems like the main talking point is the ambassador but I feel like the mantreads is probably the change that will influence 6s the most. I had a discussion with my friend and I said how I didn't like how the increased air control would increase ability to dodge airshots and juke hitscan aim but he brought up the point that you are sacrificing the mobility that comes from gunboats. Which is true but if you are sacking on the enemy med you're not really expecting to make it out anyway so I think the little bit of lost health is a fair exchange for easier bombing. Although admittedly I guess I'm not exactly sure how much +200% will really affect your control so maybe mantreads will still be bad idk.
I always kinda thought it would be cool if gunboats encouraged the roaming play style and mantreads encouraged the pocket play style. They could do something like increase overheal when wearing mantreads or something to encourage ground play idk.
Either way this is really cool that they are communicating with the community.
Hi so I'm wanting to upgrade my computer but I can really only afford to upgrade either my CPU or my GPU. I know I could probably split my budget and upgrade them both, but I feel like then I would end up buying two mid-range pieces that I would then have to upgrade again in the future. (I would rather go all out on one piece at a time.)
My price range is about $300-$400, and I'm not sure whether to upgrade my CPU or GPU. I pretty much only play tf2 but I want to eventually be able to stream. (and also get 300+ fps in team fights)
My Current Build:
AMD FX6300
Radeon R7 260x 2GB
8GB RAM
MSI 970A-G43 Mobo
I currently get about 250 idle fps while nothing is happening in game and about 100-150 during team fights. (with an fps cfg) Also I can't even consider streaming.
I'm not really knowledgeable about the current best bang-for-your-buck parts on the market so any advice on parts I could look at would be really appreciated. :)
This was posted in the temporary hitsound depository thread after TF2 Dingalings went down and before hit.tf was created. They are all quality sounds and none of them are Tagg saying get toasted or random people screaming reeeeee.

Steelseries Rival
I like my mouse enough, but it's the only gaming mouse I've ever used so I don't really know any better. I don't like glossy mice and I would prefer a relatively heavy mouse. (130g+) I feel like the curve of the Rival makes the base of my palm and my wrist drag against my mouse pad because I aim with my whole arm.
So with the pyro update right around the corner, do you guys think it is possible that pyro will be balanced into a class that could have a place in the 6s meta? I know this is a long shot but I thought it would be fun to discuss. For example if the flamethrower gets turned into a weapon that requires more aiming and airblast is fixed, do you think pyro could become something that could sort of play the role of pocket? If you don't think so do you think there are any changes valve could implement to make pyro a viable choice in 6s or do you think the class is doomed to only be used as a specialist class? I was just curious what the community's thoughts on this were, and what you guys are expecting from the update.
I don't like that Overwatch gets more support than TF2 when: https://youtu.be/QsH0ZXWeZZs?t=5193
hey looking back on this thread it occured to me that what fixed it for me may have been switching HUDs. so maybe you could try that. sorry if I'm just giving you fixes that don't work haha I'm just trying to remember what did it for me. anyways maybe try switching to m0reHUD (the hud that I now use and may have fixed it) sorry again if this doesn't work but I know for a fact that changing my HUD allowed the /sync to show on bhop servers. so maybe just give m0reHUD a try.
hmm interesting. i think ill try it out and see if it throws me off or if it works out ok. thank you both
wow alright then thank you.
So I've just been debating whether or not I should install a null-movement script. It sounds like it would be super helpful but it seems like not many people actually use it. Having it kinda seems like a direct upgrade and from what I can tell there isn't really a downside to using it?? Is there some reason I don't know that it isn't used by like every player? Is it banned in some league? Is it considered dumb/unnecessary like a rocket jump script? Or am I wrong and everyone actually uses it and I've just been in the dark? Any answers would be appreciated.
Ahh thanks guys.
