I've been using the dvorak for 13 years, and I don't recommend it to anyone. Hear me out, if qwerty wasn't the standard I would think differently, but in my professional life as a software developer it has been a massive pain in the ass to work with other people and to need to switch back and forth between layouts (I've only met one other developer that actually used dvorak). I assume this would be the same at any office job, and it has forced me to get really good at typing qwerty with two fingers (so what's the point).
That's my warning to you.
As for its good bits, it is a much more ergonomic layout and it feels very comfortable to use on a daily basis. Before switching to dvorak I could type around 120 WPM and it has not changed after switching, so there's little speed advantage in my experience.
While I wouldn't go out of my way to bash HL - different strokes for different folks and all - the idea of playing against gimmicks like backstabs, cloaking, consistent one-shot bodyshots/headshots, air-blasts, aimbots, aimbots with shields, mini aimbots, and 450hp heavies that are ALWAYS on the field makes HL easy to pass on.
In 6v6 these gimmicks only happen in specific scenarios that can be predicted and easily countered with enough foreknowledge or skill.
clami don't know how to feel about an OS centered around gaming
isn't that what consoles are for?
well i know a lot of people that use their xbox for netflix and a lot of people that bought a ps3 for the bluray player, but i digress
valve's hope is that a common os can unify the user experience over a variety of hardware, but their long-term goal appears to be using SteamOS as the sword with which they can slay the Microsoft dragon AKA using Windows for gaming on the modern PC (good luck)
A lot of times benchmarking software isn't comprehensive enough to really find all the problems. I used to benchmark with prime/linx/occt, but now my approach is to play a variety of games with uncapped FPS, which is more of a real-world scenario.
Even playing old games like half-life have found potential instabilities faster than running prime for 24 hours in my experience. My method's also way more fun.

i've mitigated RSI by lifting, specifically deadlifts since they strengthen your forearms like no other lift I'm familiar with. for cardio, I'd recommend the rowing machine
