#16 IPL 6 cancelled in TF2 General Discussion
mebCan a marketing major please tell me why Ubisoft thinks it's a good idea to artificially keep their game alive with a $100,000 opening week tournament instead of 10 $10,000 tournaments throughout the course of a year?

More money in a small period of time = faster growth of interest in a short period of time.

downpourso then, whats the next big comp shooter.
as much as we'd like it to, i dont see tf2 ever being big, its just not getting enough support outside of the community.
and since shootmania seems to be a dud, where does that leave the state of the competitive shooter? in the hands of CS:GO entirely?

VALVE doesn't really support tournaments for CS:GO, they might help the competitive scene with updates, but that's it.

People want Reborn to be the next big thing. Sadly the ESR community likes to shit on anything new from what I can see, except Reborn. If Warsow gets greenlit, I hope it get's a bigger competitive scene. If not, then arena shooters are almost out of the question and that CS is the last PC fps game to be seen in competition until something new comes out.

So I bombed what a speed shot was. I felt like this was better to show.

In the video, like I said before the edit, you should be able to get to garbage.

#12 Best location for NA tf2 lan. in TF2 General Discussion

Best place for a NA lan? East coast players will say either NY or Philly while West coast players want San Fran, or another city in Cali. Midwest players like myself might suggest either Chicago/Indy.

I personally think we should just choose a St. Louis (not to expensive, great sites.

There's some good places in Canada from what I can tell (never been out of the country).

Try finding a place that is cheap, good in location, and won't break the bank.

You should also know that we are working on finding a new home for the IPL team and IGN will continue to broadcast partner tournaments in the future.

I feel sorry for the players who qualified. Shootmania, LoL(idc as much), and the SC2(eeehh, it's their life) but their time was wasted for like.... 2-3 months.

If we pick one city and do a "tf2 tournament" we'll be wasting money. If we want to do another international tournament, then how about we try to work on getting funds for Dreamhack.

Not just a community fund, I'm talking the whole nine yards. We contact Gabe/Eric/Robin, talk to them about it and if they could help if the community raises funds. Contact sponsors/companies (Evil Geniuses/Steelseries/Razer), and tell them what we're trying to do.

Even contact MLG and try to get stuff to get on the pro-circuit. I know, "MLG is bad blah blah blah." If we try to do this though, we could two things. 1, show that we're a strong fighting community that doesn't want to die. 2, show off that a fun pubby game has it's competitive side.

Doing things as a community has always been Tf2's best chance at survival amongst the other games.
