part of the problem with telling people to just put in the work to beat john milter (or insert any other sandbagging players) in open (or IM if applicable) is ignoring the fact that the players who put in the work to get good aren't fucking degenerates and actually LEAVE the lower divs
sandbagging is stupid and if any1 does it i lose a massive amount of respect them, especially if they try to do shit like lord themselves over lower div players to justify it.
