#85 TF2 Pre Update for 6/22/16 in TF2 General Discussion
MR_SLINI just played a 20 minute game, they can be long since the rounds don't have time limits, only the 10 min capture limit.

20 minutes is far from long enough for a matchmade game. CS games last for around 50 minutes. That's a lot more reasonable and it actually enables you to get to know your team of randoms a little bit. Isn't the entire point of this that pubbers get the chance to play in a more team-based format?

bo3 is so damn short that by the time you've convinced the engi and spy mains to play proper classes the game's probably going to have ended. I don't really like the idea, it's not like pubbers aren't used to playing for at least half an hour at a time.

The only reason that the winlimit needs to be so small is because valve hates timelimit thanks to their american friends, can someone who actually understands time pressure please enlighten them as to how stalematey american tf2 is?

Aoshiwe didn't hear of any overpowered weapons from there so no adjustments were made.

The Beggar's has been known to be broken for a year or something...

If this was a 6s cup you'd be lucky to get 40 teams signed up, much less 400. Most pubbers hate 6s until they actually play it just because it gets shittalked so much. This is a good initiative, hope it does well. I would offer to mentor a team but I don't think it's worth it to play med on 350 ping :<

#113 Valve Visit in TF2 General Discussion
clckwrkLuckily the English language is lenient enough to construct a hard-hitting, effort-inducing tweet such as:

Currently taking a look at items such as the Vita Saw, Darwin's Danger Shield, and the Caber to see if changes are necessary.

Then, people reply to the tweet with a mess of good and bad ideas. You sift through the bullshit and find someone who makes a good point, you potentially test their suggestions, and they bring a lot of good fixes when you mix your own expertise as a game designer into the equation. Perhaps their suggestion is bad and you don't change any of those items (unlikely, they're all fucking terrible). It doesn't matter, because 0 promises were made.

There are already a million different ideas for changing every weapon in the game out there on forums or message boards or whatever. There's simply no need for them to waste time on doing stuff like that.

You guys are holding up Blizzard as a shining example of transparency or whatever, but they know perfectly well that they're running a risk by sharing all this information:

Jeff KaplanI can't stress this enough: some of this stuff might not happen. The reason developers usually don't give insight like this is because if something changes or doesn't happen, players get very angry at us.

They should just play granary as an i58 fundraiser showmatch, maybe let the teams pick one map each to play after as well.

#125 "Matchmaking will fail" - Muselk in TF2 General Discussion
saamI'm pretty sure when GO came out it was universally hated by pros but I'm not sure how/when the attitude changed.

That was (somewhat) constructive criticism though, based on the actual game and its many bugs and changes when compared to 1.6 and source. Although of course cs players can be very conservative and probably always have been.

#18 Sensitivity. in Q/A Help
AdebisiSure, but I'd like to have really good dm too.

I'm only at 500 hours and getting into comp, but in 500 hours time I want to have made real progress you know.
My aim is fine for my level I guess.

just play mge and try to play against better players than you and take something out of every time you get destroyed, after a (long) while you'll be destroying those people and will then be good enough to get destroyed by even higher level players, rinse repeat etc

stabbyMost of the replies here are ad hominem...boo.

He's asserting that the active player-base is too small to make Match-Making viable unless it displays an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response, which he considers unlikely.

While I sincerely want MM to succeed, I think he's being entirely reasonable.

Instead of attacking him or bemoaning his not simply playing cheerleader, perhaps we could discuss the numbers and our own perceptions on whether or not the greater TF2 player-base does indeed have sufficient interest to make MM viable? Maybe if we confront the obstacles and valid concerns that MM faces we can make it more likely to succeed, or at least have a stimulating conversation that doesn't involve being nasty.

We did discuss the numbers maybe you should read the entire thread before making sweeping and incorrect generalisations.

#6 Sensitivity. in Q/A Help

Plenty of good scouts use a lower sensitivity than you, and plenty more use a similar one or higher. A friend of mine with godly aim recently changed their sensitivity significantly to something lower than you use and it took them a few hours of gameplay, if not less, to get back to the same level of accuracy. Aiming skill isn't related to sensitivity at all, so just focus on improving your aiming skill independently of whatever sensitivity you use. Choose your sensitivity based on what is most comfortable for you and what allows you to make the movements you need to in game.

How to improve tracking: practice tracking. It's pretty simple, I know it's probably not want you want to hear, but it will take time and dedication, it won't just magically get better because you changed a value in your autoexec.
