I agree on almost every point except the entry level division being free. We've done this before it's never worked and never will work. Having to pay for a good league is a tough pill that this community just can't seem to swallow. A few years ago I ran the numbers and needed to be $25 per to be "safe" meaning you would be league going for at least 2 seasons. $20 dollars also worked if there was sufficient interest but you'ed be dead after season 2 if not enough teams signed up. highlander you could go a lot lower. Old data though, still think it's possible.
I'd like to have seen the draw offer after move 40. Caruana was in time trouble and could have blundered.
Quality of play has certainly gone downhill since ESEA stopped having tf2 at lan.

Not really I just understand his perspective on this issue, and I don't subscribe to the logic deprived utterly subjective virtue signaling of this forum.
atiderepine_beetleI can't see how anybody can say that they have not been in a pug or scrim and it was a good competitive game being extremely irritated when someone starts fucking around.Yes but he is literally acting like the pug is invite grand finals. From my understanding pugs are supposed to be a casual, yet competitive environment. Yes people shouldn't dick around like yight and throw at the end of the game, but b4nny shouldn't be freaking out on him with 300+ viewers even though yight might not care, someone else will be more likely to shy away from pugging because they are afraid that the best tf2 player ever will yell at them if they make a slight mistake in a pug.
When you are playing with the best player in the world you play your best game, anything less is insulting. You should be afraid of making a mistake and should want learn and get better. The greatest compliment you can give B4nny is to go in there legit and beat him. He hasn't really had that kind of challenge since mixup. If you want to chill and have fun you shouldn't be puging with the best players you're not just wasting your time and you are also wasting their time.

Anybody else feel like B4nny started out as a Morty and as time went on became a Rick?
Ariepine_beetle If you want a good stable league you're going to have to pay for it pure in simple.

ETF2L is not comparable to ESEA. Maybe UGC. No lan, less competitive, less prizes... Yes esea doesn't provide a lan anymore and that's because of fractures within the community about what league they wish to play in. ESEA dropping tf2 from the lan has greatly lowered the quality of competition for NA.
ETF2L would probably still be playing vanilla if NA hadn't gone in and shit on them badly.
New leagues trying to take the market from ESEA isn't new. It's happened many times before, TWL, XPL, TGL, CEVO, TFCL and probably a few others but hasn't worked out. There's always been this divide in the community between Invite players loving ESEA and everyone else hating it. Esea historically has had a very rocky relationship with our community and has come close to abandoning ship several times.
There are many reasons why these other leagues failed but one of the main reasons is they don't generate enough money. If you want a good stable league you're going to have to pay for it pure in simple. The reasons this happens is because they run f2P for new teams and pay to play for better teams. This just doesn't work because the better you get the more you have to pay and it's unfair. The only way a new league can win is if they go 100% pay to play, and unless they have the balls to do that... Stick with ESEA.
+1 to quit full turkey.
Sometimes you have to find new friends and hobbies to stay away.
Find a good woman :)
With pay to play it's go big or go home. If you can put up big prizes and possibly a lan you will attract a lot of attention. A lot more than any amount of free to play crap. $20 again would be a minimum number still not very good.. $25 is where you want to be if you're serious. They might not like it and blah blah blah but if you are working towards hosting a lan and you're putting up large prizes... tough luck boys if you want nice things you have to pay for it. Play harder and win your money back.
Otherwise I see this going exactly the same route as XPL, TGL, TWL, Cevo... and all the other leagues that pop up every couple of years.
I want you to be successful. I also think you can pull it off. If you want a detailed plan PM me your e-mail and I'll provide you with one. If not, good luck with your project :)
