MILKy_Had the same problem fixed it by verifying game cache.
Thanks, I'll reinstall it and give it a go.
Getting excited about rumoured updates never backfired before, all aboard the hype train! I for one am saving up my pocket money to buy Spy vs Engineer journals and the six new weapons from the Mann Co. Store, one of which might be partially useful. I can use them all in the new matchmaking on rd_asteroid, TF2's new competitive gamemode inspired by Dota, because TF2's comp scene failed because it isn't enough like Dota, Robin Walker said so.
I tried to start the tutorial and it crashed. When I restarted it had forgotten all my bindings because apparently those aren't saved to disk. I guess TF2 ain't so bad.
ninjanickCHERRY pls D: match isn't live yet my hats noooooooooooooooo
Otoh think of the 5:1 return if there's an upset.
Most people don't use comms anyway I wouldn't worry about it.
ErenJayI think that it's ok for sports too be popular but I don't really understand why American college sport is so important.
Brief history lesson: college sports started way back before professional leagues even started, so they already had a sizeable fanbase which they've held onto. The NBA was only founded in the 40s and the Superbowl in the 60s, which is why college basketball and football are so big. MLB started in the 19th century so college baseball isn't as big.
ulmyxxOk given its a british show about cars i wonder who else watches it than white heterosexual men. So it really doesn't fucking matter.
Fortunately us white heterosexual men are exempt from the licence fee so it doesn't matter if there's fuck all for us to watch because it's all talent shows, soaps and cooking.
JimiJamWith esports part of the reason it isn't this massively popular spectacle is that the skill gap is much smaller. GeT_RiGhT is definitely a better player than anyone on tftv, but it's not like he is some elite god who would crush any of us with ease at any time. If you played CS every single day and practiced for several years you could definitely get close to that skill level. There are pros with only a few thousand hours on CS. Becoming an elite video game player is possible for a lot of people if you just practice a lot, becoming a professional athlete is only possible for a tiny fraction of the population, and that tiny fraction still has to put INSANE amounts of work in to become successful at the highest possible level. People pay to watch those guys compete with one another because it's at such an elite level
People pay to watch it because they enjoy it and want to see it done by people better than them. I don't think spectators look up how many hours a player has spent training before they watch. There are NFL players who were track athletes who converted, they haven't necessarily spent ten thousand hours doing it. If it was purely about being an elite level, so many people wouldn't watch lower division football, or international teams with no chance of winning or even qualifying for World Cups.
Darik's Boot and Nuke is the only way to be sure.
spicoliTI alone must've cost valve at least a few million dollars
Doubt it. They sold $40 million dollars of those compendium things, paid a quarter of it out in prize money and kept the rest.
spicolihttp://venturebeat.com/2014/01/22/doat-2-made-around-80-million-in-microtransaction-revenues-in-2013-according-to-analyst-firm/
Dota 80 mil CSGO 40 mil - combined 19 mil less then what tf2 brought in solo..
That's when Dota2 was just coming out of beta and CSGO hadn't exploded like it has. The revenues aren't really that relevant, at Valve people work on what they feel like and evidently none of the A-team are interested in TF2 anymore.
spicoliwho can honestly blame them for thinking we're an inferior game? When valve essentially takes the money we made them and dumps it into cs and dota, then ignores the tf2 community in regards to almost anything. How can we as a community gain respect from other communities when valve doesn't seem to show any
TF2 players think they take their hat money and put it in CSGO. CSGO players think they take their skin money and put it in Dota. Dota players think they take their fancy courier money and put it in Steam machines or whatever.
The fact is that Valve invests little of any of its games' revenues back into them, using them for newer projects instead. Most things wrong with TF2 aren't really about money. Things like bad default settings, pointless weapons with weird stats, a bad quickplay system, bugs, unintuitive mechanics, bad weapon tooltip descriptions etc. aren't things that need money to be fixed, they just need a bit of care and attention, which is what has been missing lately.
wquick question: is the installer crashing for anyone else after the installation is finished?
it worked fine for me a few days ago
It did that for me, I think I had to delete the rayshud folder from the custom folder before running it.
