fraglandssacpeople in 2015: GIB PYRO CONSISTENT PARTICLES and flamethrower have dps!!!
People in 2018: wtf valve
its as if the community has a bunch of very vocal retards that have no idea what a balance is
its as if people wanted consistent particles and flamethrower have dps but ALSO for the flamethrower to actually take aim to use
dunno how you managed to miss that part
What is a balance? it takes the weight of a gold coin and its equivalent in weight of shit and deems it equal. Tf2 is a ten year old game which undergone lots of changes and had lots of different people working on it, and is now maintained by a smaller crew which tries to maintain the game and try to implement community requests and the complaints that were there before the introduction of each update and ends up in doing so putting a lot of time and effort into projects that arent working. And this is because a lot of what the community wants and receives in return gets bad things it never asked for.
I've seen people quit over the introduction of hats, not just becuase of the hats but all the changes it brought along like random item drops, the backpack and the introduction of the crates and trading and keys, was for some people really obvious back then playing and putting money in the game is the feeding of a cancer on games that has since then been a hot topic and even is getting lawmakers involved to potentially ban or regulate this profitable businessmodel. But I have to admit, tf2 might have died already if people lacked ways of expressing themselves with their cosmetics and the sunk cost of staying in the game becuase of the economy.
When the quickplay update was released and the valve servers redirected the influx of random people into community servers, it was for many regulars of this game a bad time since many communities moved on and shriveled, some of them having this unique server culture that made this game way more interesting to join in on for pubbers.
Some of he community like me that remained slowly started to love what they found on the valve servers, watching newbies learn play the game (the f2p update which was lamented by some is in my view one of the best decisions valve ever did for this game) and forming these clusters of poeple finding each other and making friends and hanging around in servers in which the map doesnt change, which means it gave rise to some situations that more resembled as in the old community servers. there were the same autobalance issues for one sided teams but the longer duration and the option of being able to pick and switch teams and all that jazz meant that the remainder was more flexible to switch over and it works itself out better (or dies). People complained about valve servers though becuase it was not the same as the community servers and the issues that arise( long one-sided stalemates)
We got the mym update that tried to adress those issues and is probably the least popular system.
My long winded point is, that with each change that tries to adress the grievances of the community at that time, the community after several times doesnt understand that when you ask for your pound, and expect to receive a pound of gold, don't be surprised its half a pound in gold and half a pound in shit and the balance is in equilibrium. And this is becuase poeple that do work on this game, despite their best intent and willingness can't fix some of the issues without getting some part of it wrong because it lacks the insight that you'd need to fix it just right. So we have trial and error instead, with us as the testbase and we have to learn to deal with it as a community, becuase remember that ugc letter with all the pyromains in NA demanding things and people on reddit, the spuf suggestions of mini sentries and threads here that suggest things, some really good in concept but it lacks in execution when implemented and its not really a surprise anymore.
