Hey, I've been looking to build a fairly cheap gaming PC for mostly tf2 and recording/editing videos (nothing too intensive, just probably editing some audio and testing various things).
After asking a bunch of friends for recommendations I came up with this list so far:
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/WrzCr7
Just missing a graphics card, and if anyone knows any deals on a hard drive, would be appreciated. I had my mind set on the gtx1050's that came out recently but a lot of people are saying it's not worth it, so I'm a little lost as to which one I should get. (I wanna be able to play some recent games at a decent fps, but being able to run tf2 well is a priority for now.)
Also looking for a monitor, but I'm not factoring it into my budget, any decently priced recommendations would be stellar.
Kinda hoping to get everything ready before black friday so I can get the best deals on things while I can. Any help would be appreciated. My budget barring the monitor is under $600 CAD.
Thanks in advance!
side note: would love a graphics card that i can use to stream instead of putting the load on my cpu

Has your life improved since you quit?
Eh, not much really. I quit because the game's optimization was going to shit, and the stuff needed to run it at a decent level was going higher and higher, so until I can buy some new parts, I'm on an indefinite hold. For my life, haven't really noticed much of a difference, probably hanging out less with the dudes I met through tf2 which makes me sad :(.
Do you get bored enough to feel the urge to come back to TF2 often, or are you satisfied enough with where you are (or dissatisfied enough with TF2 when you left) to not even consider it?
I still itch to play comp 6s, watching streams and matches regularly to fill the void it's left ever since I've stopped
playing. I do get the urge to load up the game, but then I remember the bad frames and decide against it. Soon I will return.
Did you have some other, non-videogame hobby to spend your time on, or did you exit into the world with no clear plans for what to do next?
I've always been a fan of writing and singing, so I've spent a bit more time doing those I suppose. I've also started watching all the big boy TV shows, getting into the walking dead, breaking bad etc that I never finished watching so it's nice to have the free time to no life those lmao.
What was the main reason that you decided to quit TF2?
Bad frames. Just, I was able to the run the game at like a solid 60 frames at a point, but I have no clue what happened over the years. I never thought I'd spend over 3K hours on a videogame but here we are sitting at 3,758 hrs on record.
And, of course, why do you browse a forum for a game you no longer play?
Memes.
Re4lityDyl4NI personally would've ranked myself a low open roamer like 2 months ago, and since then i've played lots and lots of pugchamps, learning a lot from the better players there, friends, and mentors. Overall I have just watched lots of POV's, played and learned from lots of pugchamps, and played on teams.
I would play a lot pugchamps but then theirs retards like phoenix who tell me to uninstall the game and just in general toxic in mumble whether its to me or someone else
do they say that if you make a mistake, or are they just being toxic in general?
if they do the former, ask them what you did wrong so you can improve.
can i get the strange scattergun please? if its already taken, i would love the inheal the memes medigun.
Cornpop16Ok, it took a while but I finally got a day to go to the city and get some thermal paste. I put on new thermal paste, and cleaned it out with canned air, and now my GPU is staying under 80C, and my frames sit between 50-70 while playing.
An improvement on the temps for sure, but I'm looking for more fps than that. Would my best bet be to buy a new graphics card then? The rx 480 or gtx 1060 were recommended a little while ago, but are there any others I should look at?
I'm not sure you're aware of this, but tf2 is mostly CPU heavy as most source games are, so getting a graphics card wouldn't be your best bet on boosting fps. Also streaming tf2 without a graphics config is gonna need a much beefier build, tf2 really isn't optimized.
hi berry have you tried the getting that smooth texture pack that a lot of users use to help boost frames?
having one near downtown toronto would be pretty swell too, easy to commute down there for most people, though im not sure if there are any venues that are suitable. pls no byoc.
