It's not about being able to send over an NA team to i49, I'm sure it is possible. The thing is simply "is it worth it?". To be honest, no. At this point the only tournament's that would ever matter to getting this game somewhere would be Dreamhack or ESEA EU expansion.

I think it's an excellent idea, but no competition is necessary.
Don't forget about Skype. You can get someone's IP from skype without even having them on your contacts list.
shlanerMy competitive POVs don't get nearly as many views compared to if I were to make more pub videos. I try to mix both of them together though. I also feel that if you're introducing competitive to new players then Reddit is a good place to go. Unfortunately I can't just go posting every single POV video to Reddit since there are all sorts of community rules and they frown upon people who post just for views.
POV videos are also really long sometimes so people just lose interest or don't have the time to watch.
If you're actually an active member of the reddit community they really don't mind. Like I never post anything there as a mod, and I could sit and spam the sub with links constantly and people probably wouldn't mind because if you look at my history i'm still making like 3-4 posts a day in various subs.

Keep in mind they are for real beginners. We never made it to demo. I helped in writing the scout one, I am to blame for all that cheese :[
What I had in mind would be more like a trailer (fast-paced, exciting), and would be just one video. The idea would be to give the watcher enough knowledge to watch a cast and not be confused, as well as to make it interesting enough that they want to watch more.
Around about i46 I was looking into doing a "6v6 in 60 seconds" thing. Got the basic concept down and even had djc do some audio work for it, but it never happened really.

Huh, I never actually knew these videos existed. Just added them to the playlist that all the videos I uploaded to my channel are in.
MYLESRemember the shit-fest that went down with FT vs Chess Club? A lot of redditors were talking about issues, and one thing that I saw was that the new ones would say "this the first cast I watched..."
Well how about getting the tf.tv casters, or even the eXtv casters to low end games, and even small community tournaments, and while waiting, they could talk about the game mode's and what's involved. Have those casters post something on reddit, and we just up vote the bloody hell out of it. It'll involve more communities & even help grow a bit.
Just a suggestion though.
The thing about the reddit community is that a lot of the are at least remotely aware of competitive TF2 and just aren't interested. Just posting up awesome content there is the best strategy, it's just long term and not very fast. This time last year when I started posting a lot even mentioning comp tf2 would have evoked a "lol nerd" **downvote** fest. The fact total newbies are even discussing it there is a huge step.
blueeWill this be done for NA matches next season?
You mean replaying NA matches at EU times? Yes definitely! I'm actually trying to to get a complete schedule of casts from this season so we can replay them in the upcoming EU off-season in the run up to ESEA LAN.
If you mean replaying NA matches at different NA times, I'm not really sure to be honest. Depends if there's enough demand.
Hey guys,
So after the great success of trying this out last time, we're going to be restreaming EU games at NA times whenever we can.
Tonight's game in Pokeman vs Qn. You can see more info here: http://teamfortress.tv/schedule/event/144-etf2l-prem-pokeman-vs-quarantine
Tidbit of drama about this match. Pokeman "folded" because of a dispute about their 2 Finnish players not wanting to play scrims, leader spoke to etf2l admins and it was declared off, then we spoke to another player who had no knowledge about this, then they were getting a merc for their leader, then he decided to play and the game was played as if none of this had ever happened.
Looks fucking awesome, don't really know what it's for as such, but just as a technical feat it's cool as hell.
Also, total viewership stats!
So viewership stats!

This graph is a bit shit due to it having weird numbers on the bottom, but basically start of the graph is about 8:30pm CET and the end is about 11:00pm CET. Prizes for anyone who can guess when when VanillaTV got frontpaged on Twitch.
Hopefully I can learn to use something better than Excel (or at the very least use Excel properly) and make this sort of thing more regularly.
This match is going to be sooooo sick. :D
It's a great offer, but I think what you're likely to find is that not a lot of people will take you up on the other offer. By the time someone has been able to contact you to use the server, they'll probably have been able to PM 10 other people on steam that might not be using their server that night, and no doubt one of them will say yes.
I thought you fine gentlemen on this sub might be interested in this little gem from the euro scene. It's basically a more "for the community, by the community" type thing than Fully Charged is. Bassically every episode they discuss recent Prem/Div1 matches (our equivelant to invite), team news, and spill all the drama and gossip.
This week might be interesting for you guys since we had DJC on and there was a lot of chat about TFTV going to Europe, but it's generally a good thing to keep an eye on if you're interested in the EU scene or want to start following it.
It's done live on Twitch, usually gets 100+ viewers, but here's the youtube vod since I know most of you won't be about at that time.
