yttriumWhat if I told you I've got the solution? A tiny little tool that can evade cvar restrictions?

degui've found a way how to disable viewmodels http://www.teamfortress.tv/21928/transparent-viewmodels-in-any-hud/?page=5#124 but to enable them, you need to restart your game and it causes a blur
so you can use no viewmodel for all slots or viewmodel on for all slots
Please don't push around hacked together workarounds that introduce invisible textures and such. It's bad enough people use material hacks to shrink the size of explosions--no need to give them partial wallhacks too.
:(
Most people seem to be unaware of this, but you can clear blood decals at any time using the command r_cleardecals.
If you want to clear them automatically (not recommended as they can be useful) then just add "; r_cleardecals" to the end of existing binds, whether that's weapon binds, movement binds, or something else.
ex: bind w "+forward; r_cleardecals"
bind e "+reload; r_cleardecals"
You're probably out of luck for ragdolls and gibs without some questionable file muckery, though..
You'll need to be a bit more specific before anyone can help you pinpoint your issue. What model is your new laptop? Are you using wireless? What network adapter are you using?
If your laptop is going to be mostly stationary, you will have far better luck using ethernet or a powerline adapter than wireless, as BurningSmile said, but if you must use wireless, it should still be usable, though depending on interference in your area and home layout, it may have intermittent issues. It definitely shouldn't be worse than before unless something major has changed like wireless frequency/bands.
If your new laptop has a KillerNIC adapter, I'd recommend completely uninstalling the KillerNIC software because it's utter trash and unless you understand how to configure its internal QoS settings, it will be painful to use. I have seen many instances where the KillerNIC software has absolutely demolished performance in both throughput and latency due to its default configuration. Even if it's configured perfectly, it doesn't work any better than a standard network adapter in terms of throughput or overall performance--it just does local QoS.
Hey, I really appreciate the information, Bucake. I've actually looked into the Dream Machines mouse, but the recurring theme that ends up being the deal-breaker is that they've removed the buttons from the right side of the mouse, so my left-handed self is out of luck. :(
OH my god I can't take it
we are turning this into a learning thread
the phrase is "CLOSED-MINDED". it is a state of being open or closed, not a reference to a distance. your mind is not near or far from new ideas, it is open or closed to them.
have a nice day
p.s. lesson #2 is
there is a location
their is a possession
they're is a contraction for they are
Yeesh, this is the first time I've heard anyone refer to the DA as having a good scroll wheel. :P
I just want to put a good sensor in my Sensei, dammit. Come on Steelseries, get with the times, you bastards!
oh god
they warned me this day would come, but i never believed them
i assured them it would never be so
how could this happen to me
nearly ten years
at least three forums
countless lines of chat
a number of posts whose quality and sheer quantity would put the library of babel to shame
but here we are
the inevitable is occurring
I'm at least partially in agreement with mustardoverlord.
All joking aside, the sheer fact of being racist is not enough to deem someone a bad person. Sure, it's seen as a negative thing about them if it's ever scrutinized, but like mustard said, everyone is racist to some degree, whether it's that you hate an entire race and want to see genocide committed against them, or you simply feel less safe when you're surrounded by people of a specific race.
I think that defining a person as good or bad depends upon substantially more than one (or even many) unfavorable personality trait(s). All great people have done bad things, except Jesus, if you believe in that sort of thing.

there are dozens of threads on this forum alone about mouse sensitivity. obviously, not all of them are relevant, but with 15 pages of results, many of them have as much useful information as anyone could put in a new thread. I'm sure you can find 500 posts stating that sensitivity is personal preference.
It's more disturbing to me that you people are willing to throw money at an individual who illegally copied something just so he could profit from it. =P
Heh, banny has gone to great lengths to hide his arrogance and has pretended to practice humility and kindness toward others for 15 seasons. Who'd have guessed a few drinks would lower his inhibitions to the point of being himself in front of others? ;-)
I can't really imagine how you see things, but I've never been able to figure out any combination of color temperature settings/color manipulations on screen that makes things measurably easier to see in any games. :(
Saturation can help in some situations but it has negative impacts as often as positive ones, so I don't use it. Obviously your mileage may vary on that. Usually I just end up analyzing the models in a game and trying to figure out something that sticks out on them, then specifically looking for that. In TF2, the weapons are the easiest things for me to spot in most cases.
PS/2 ports are great for keyboards, but I wouldn't recommend it for a mouse anymore. USB polling will in most cases result in lower overall input latency for a mouse (but in theory it shouldn't really be noticeable). Having said that, if you're having issues, it certainly doesn't hurt to give it a shot and see if it's better.
Looks like a centipede to me, but the picture quality is pretty low. Looks like it has too many legs to be a silverfish, but who knows. =P
These arguments are always pretty silly. It's just like the "high vs low sensitivity" arguments. One is not objectively better than the other--it's just different. It's true that low DPI + high in-game sensitivity will result in what could be called a small dead zone. It's true that high DPI + low in-game sensitivity can result in more precise mouse response at the potential cost of your mouse picking up tiny involuntary movements. What's the bottom line? Try them both out. Nobody but you can tell you what's right for you. Pick something and stick with it if it feels comfortable to you. If it doesn't, change it up until you find something that is comfortable.
Many of the top level CS players who were around for 1.6 still use low sensitivities and low DPI settings because it's what's worked for them and they're used to it. Newer players come in with medium to high DPI settings and/or sensitivity settings and it works just fine for them as well. Top level players switch to different teams and are then forced to use different mice occasionally. What happens? They get used to it and they're just as good as before. It's all about preference and comfort. It would be very unusual for a mouse or keyboard setting to improve someone's game by more than a few percentage points, and even small improvements can typically be attributed to "I made this change and now it feels more comfortable than before".
