list of things that we, the community, can do to get more players interested in comp

  • probably the easiest thing we could do by ourselfs is just reccomending pub players to try comp with tf2center or tf2stadium

  • we could also demand more attention from valve, although yeah we're getting what we wanted recently (buffs / nerfs, the stream list, competitive matchmaking and general good stuff related to comp), we could need some help outside the game, like helping with community projects or people related with the comp scene

  • i think youtubers could easily grow our community, the last somewhat big youtubers that talked about / played / mentioned comp tf2 in videos were star (playing esea open, talking about comp tf2, and playing comp in videos) and muselk (talking about comp tf2 in a few videos), and im guessing we got quite a few people interested in comp just because of those vids

  • also we can try making a new "letter" to valve with new stuff that we need to keep comp tf2 alive, idk how much effort and time took to make the original card sent to valve so idk if people would like to make another one

  • Smesieverytime you rank up in mm, you'll get a random hat.
    that'll attract a lot of people into mm / comp.    this will attract a lot of people to mm but probably not to actual leagues like ESEA / ETF2L / OZF / Etc.

  • another thing i thought about valve making major-like events through the years like the dota majors, but of course not as big.

  • buying items related to the comp scene, like stickers and team-related skins, would be cool for the people that play comp and i'll attract quite a few people into comp.

  • i remember that dota has a thing for the international in which you buy like a bundle of items related to pro teams and shit, and the money collected from that bundle goes directly to prizepool of the international, i'll be cool if valve could do something like that for the insomnia lans or all lans / tourneys

  • also something like this will really help the viewership of matches

    i'm not talking about the stream list of course because we already have that, buy i'm talking about the upcomming matches list

like right now comp tf2 is in a questionable state because a lot of players / community members are joining the overwatch hype bandwagon and by itself our community is pretty small, and if we keep losing players and people in general i think comp tf2 might just die

i made this post all in one stroke so my proposals might be too much or too dumb
