#54 Who is leaving? in TF2 General Discussion
vrisksmobosparksybrush"getting nothing in return"

How would one change that? Is it even possible to elevate the status of comp. tf2 to DotA levels or sth? Maybe with more support from Valve?
You have to be a special kind of crazy to put enough time in to reach an invite level and not be sick of the game.

It's a special kind of crazy to really like playing tf2?

Didn't say that was a bad thing.

#4 Twitch Chat? in TF2 General Discussion
DeathyIt's not like you'd want to see twitch chat anyway

it's white noise in large streams, but small stream chat is like 90% of the experience of streaming and stream viewing

#12 Gargleburry lft open in Recruitment (looking for team)
omzcan someone explain what mid-high and mid-low open is

mid-high open means people that consider themselves above average for open, but probably aren't contending in the playoffs. Anyone in mid-open considers themselves mid-high open.

Most low teams prefer to call themselves low-mid because, while they're below average in open, they're closer to the average teams than they are to the worst teams. Low open is a scary thought, because literally anyone with zero TF2 experience could be "low open". People want some dividing line between themselves and new players. (i.e. UGC Iron and UGC Silver teams are very different, but both would be "low open".)

#4 LFT as Scout Open in Recruitment (looking for team)

Would be better if he had two o's in his name. Absolutely worth a tryout as he has great aim for a scout in open.

#8 TF2 Size + SSD = :(? in Hardware

Custom maps get pretty bad if you do tons of jump/surf servers and play dozens of maps for that.

#3 LF MvM Group in TF2 General Discussion

Search for steam community groups for mvm, they're more likely to want to play MVM with strangers than TFTV is.

#13 FPS Issue in Q/A Help

i meant the TC, i don't know what what your issue is. I've never seen a framerate that drops relative to its cap, that sounds like a really strange driver issue.

#10 Soldier Flt Any Area Open in Recruitment (looking for team)
RikachuOkay.
I think he's looking for a team as pocket and he'd be willing to play roamer? Or is it the other way around.

I think he just wanted to play in a competitive format that has medics it, but he would also be cool with playing a format without a medic.

Sounds to me like he's a team-oriented soldier that knows the value of heals and can use them effectively, but he doesn't restrict himself to playing in just one style. This is the kind of person you want on your side when it all goes down.

#11 FPS Issue in Q/A Help

your issue is the steam overlay reconnecting after steams servers go down momentarily. hate to be that guy but this is absolutely correct and everyone else in this thread is being irrelevant.

solution: disable the overlay in tf2

I use an fps cap of 200 because any extra is unnecessary heat and power. it doesn't really affect my game beyond limiting it to 200. Whatever you set it to above like 120 won't impact your game a whole lot.

#19 all my demos are choppy in Q/A Help

I've done a lot of mentoring of like, UGC Iron players, and a lot of their demos come out like this. I used to think that it was due to playing at a low framerate, but that doesn't seem to be the case with you.

i'd just reinstall completely and see what happens. edit: looks like you already did that. did you just delete local content? or did you actually go into the folder and remove everything? try playing with fresh, stock configs.

DreamboatWhat are the odds they're trying to turn the new mode, rd_asteroid or whatever it is into a competitive skill balanced game mode?

it's closer to dota than any other gamemode...
