#56 *insert artist* appreciation thread in Music, Movies, TV

Tim Hecker, has largely been the leading figure in ambient for me for about the past four years, and every two or so albums he makes near-flawless masterpieces that make it difficult for me to listen to anything else, for several months at a time.

All I could find on youtube:

Virgins (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu-ihs4BkAs&;)
The Ravedeath, 1972 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NkZVWXK5jM)
Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jXbnydhNjU&;)
Radio Amor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhEuAuhH418)
Harmony in Ultraviolet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlCpOhPZXVo)

#62 album recommendations in Music, Movies, TV

All of Tim Hecker's stuff (except maybe An Imaginary Country, you can go chronologically, it's all solid)
GAS - I'd recommend Pop if you have to listen only one album from an artist, but again solid stuff all the way through
Boris - Pink
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Preoccupations (alternatively known as Viet Cong) - both Viet Cong and Preoccupations are albums, would recommend both
Void - Sessions 1981-1983
Gold Panda - Lucky Shiner

#1929 Do you like the song above? in Music, Movies, TV
flyingbuddykppretty good

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Numt5oqS2Oo and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfbCLwNlGwU

they are basically the same songs but one is a mix

Love Beach House, saw them live also

This one, not everyone may love..I personally think they're great but they're way better live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rmIoD9Phc4

A very okay opening (I really struggle to enjoy acoustic guitar) transitions into lean and atmospheric (pop?) production mid way through, and the buildup and crescendo at the back end totally held my attention but then immediately dropped and it just fails to stick with me. I believe they would have benefited from making the song longer, and giving it more room to breathe.

Vocalist's performance is technically sound (I think), but felt too falsetto and too high for the tone of the song. Not something I'd go out of my way to look for, and perhaps more forgettable for me as I'm a fanatic for walls of sound when it comes to guitar music. But I can see why someone would like it.

After exhausting Tim Hecker's entire catalog, I went looking for new ambient music and ended up with Huerco S, and the opening song on his second album really does it for me (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq3GsIQLwoI&;) - "A Sea of Love".

#96 players you like pugging with in TF2 General Discussion

acab and greenrab are always great medic players on pugchamp, much better than I am at it
only played with war once but he's great too,

smirre is a great demo too
pred for not getting mad at me being bad at med and dropping him

most of the players I've played point out my beginner mistakes politely and without screaming at me, thank you so much for that
