Recently, it came to my attention that Elijahh, a pretty well-known cheater, was unbanned after a two-year period: https://rgl.gg/Public/PlayerProfile.aspx?p=76561198124005288.
Funnily enough, he almost immediately got banned again for using a slur, but that ban has also been lifted. Most likely, he will be playing again next season.
My question is why are cheating bans only for two years? Considering the speed at which RGL conducts its cheating investigations, these bans should be permanent. It seems pointless to wait another season just for anticheat to finally decide that yeah, cheaters are cheaters. Perma bans may also deter players from cheating in the first place, and it would eliminate the need for players and teams to be used as guinea pigs to decide whether known cheaters are, in fact, cheating. It is insane to me that as a paid service, RGL can't even guarantee the most basic peace of mind by not forcing players to play against KNOWN cheaters.
