#15 CEVO-O: Week 4 in TF2 General Discussion
mustardoverlordalso as a heads-up there's this weird glitch in cevo where a couple players just have their stats completely doubled- twice the kills, deaths, dmg, heals, etc. cuddleMatch stats get mangled, sometimes doubling a player’s numbers or leaving them off altogether[...]

cuddles is an expert on CEVO don't worry

flynn__I think you should seek real life help and counseling, don't go on a public internet forum for anything that matters

Did you miss the part where he is getting professional help, and it's not working? He decided to turn here to see if anybody he can relate to has something to contribute. Believe it or not, on the other end of these aliases there are actual, real people who can be serious when it counts.

#33 suicide. in Off Topic

I think everything here is on the right track.

The biggest thing is that nobody is going to convince you suicide is/isn't the answer; you're going to have to figure that part out on your own. Sucky, 100%, but I really think you're the only one who can really decide. We all are just trying to help you reach that answer.

That being said, I don't think suicide is the right move for you; not because I think it's wrong or anything, but because it doesn't seem like you really want to die. It seems more like you want something different/better out of life. Just as other people brought up, you seem to have reasoning for why you shouldn't leave your life behind.

I learned in school that, when suicidal people went to see him, psychiatrist Viktor Frankl would ask "Why don't you kill yourself?" It was a genuine question, and one you seem to have answers for: you're afraid of death, you have a rad puppy, and you still have people you care about/that care about you. Not to mention this community: unless I'm grossly mistaken, I think you're a very respected and talented player just among us, and it would be an awful loss if you left our small competitive community.

All that being said, I started reading a book linking scientific studies to being happier in general, and although I'm not too far in, it's already been fairly insightful. I know your OCD and everything must be absolutely terrible to deal with, but the best way to feel better about life is to focus on the positives. Other people have mentioned that talking your issues out with other people can help, and it can a little bit, but there's something that seems to have been proven more powerful: writing things down.

If you're looking for something to actually try, there's a one-week journal type thing they recommend where you write about some positive things every day for 5 days, and I found it actually was pretty useful for me. Monday: 3 things you're grateful for; Tuesday: describe one of the best times of your life in detail; Wednesday: imagine who you want to be in the future, what goals you want to achieve, and write about who you are after achieving everything; Thursday: think about someone really important to you, that you truly care for, and write as if you were telling them how important they are to you; Friday: finally, think about the previous week and write about 3 things that went well for you (these can be as simple as having a good night of TF2 or as meaningful as actually feeling better about your life).

That probably sounds kind of stupid/weird/whatever, but it really does help and you only need to do it for one week to actually feel better. If it does work and you feel better, and a few days or even weeks from now you start feeling down again, try it again for a week to boost yourself back up. It doesn't take a lot of time and could help you a lot in the long run.

[Anyway, I think it's really cool that you came to all of us for support, and that everyone here has been really helpful, because it shows just how great this community is. For all the shit talking and minus fragging and bandwagonning we do around it, it's awesome to see that at the end of the day we can drop it all when things get serious. I really hope things get better for you chaaz.

Great write up; do you have any benchmark results from this? I've been wanting to try this out for a year or so, but never had the patience.

Sorry I didn't realize DM was all about you having fun and not about people getting better.

Can we put a prophunt map into the rotation then?

#39 Thoughts on CEVO match scheduling in TF2 General Discussion

Hey Pipher, thanks for keeping up with the forums.

Can I ask what the reasoning is behind this policy? While I agree that it makes sense to play a match at the default day/time if teams can't reach an agreement, there's still the issue of not knowing when to play. While it's possible to have people available at the default match time, it's a bit ridiculous that teams can make you wait until the default time rolls around for you to know if you're going to play or not.

#20 favorite food? in Off Topic

It's actually pretty hard to find a good picture of a decent Italian sub (ie. one that isn't subway, from a 6ft or any other generally mediocre sub).

#3 im bad at roamer and i need help :) in Mentoring

Hi plobs.

I don't know if I'd have time to get into specifics, but roaming can be summed up pretty well:

  • Don't take up heals
  • Support your scouts
  • Only go for a bomb when your team is ready
  • Grabbing the attention of 2+ players on the other team is just as effective as killing someone

It would also help if you identify your key problems that happen often. If you die while holding then you're probably overextended. If you die bombing in without getting much done, work on your jumps. If you get denied by scouts a lot, your timing is off and you need your team to open something up for you.

#6 dear advertisers, a suggestion in Off Topic

They should have made both pictures identical for real (the left is yellow and the right is red smaka darling) and then everyone would think they're colorblind and need these.

That would have been the smart thing to do I think.

I really enjoyed it, my only complaint was that the in-game sounds seemed to slowly stop being audible until it was just music. Visually it looked great.

hooliall im saying is in a fair fight, one should not win simply because of an unlock or chance.

So then you're saying that kritz shouldn't be allowed either?
