Just wanted to say that I also use a 120Hz monitor and a 60Hz monitor, had noticed stuttering when watching Twitch streams on the 60Hz monitor, and after disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome the stuttering is gone.
Windows 10 got a new major update, the Creators Update. There are a bunch of new features/additions that are mostly irrelevant to TF2 players, but one that could be relevant is Game Mode.
MicrosoftOur vision is that Game Mode optimizes your Windows 10 PC for an improvement in game performance. To enable Game Mode, go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode toggle the feature on. Doing this will give you the ability to enable the feature for each UWP and Win32 title you play by pulling up the Game bar (Windows + G) and the clicking the Settings button. There you’ll be able to opt individual games into using Game Mode.
I was curious if anyone on any of the Insider tracks had noticed a difference after enabling Game Mode for TF2 or any other games.
I downloaded the update yesterday and with no Game Mode I was getting anywhere from 80 to 150 FPS in pubs (Comanglia's quad core config with an i5 3570k/stock clocks and GTX 1060/stock), and objectively there was no difference after enabling Game Mode. Subjectively I can't say there was much of a difference either: neither an improvement nor a downgrade.
With how slow TF2 updates have been coming out, it might be a while before TF2 supports Game Mode, if it ever supports it. But with all the different combinations of hardware out there, I figured it was worth letting TFTV know about something that could make a difference.
You can force a download of the Creators Update by going here and clicking Update Now, or you can wait until April 11 or later for Microsoft to roll out the update through Windows Update (at this point there is no difference between forcing the install and waiting). On my PC, it took somewhere between 40 mins and an hour in total to install: 20-30 minutes to download and setup the update, then it told me it would need to restart a few times and I couldn't use my computer until it had finished installing 20-30 minutes later.
BrimstoneQuick Class Switcher
Alternatively, put class switching on the numpad.
// Instant class switching
bind "KP_INS" "spectate"
bind "KP_END" "join_class scout"
bind "KP_DOWNARROW" "join_class soldier"
bind "KP_PGDN" "join_class pyro"
bind "KP_LEFTARROW" "join_class demoman"
bind "KP_5" "join_class heavyweapons"
bind "KP_RIGHTARROW" "join_class engineer"
bind "KP_HOME" "join_class medic"
bind "KP_UPARROW" "join_class sniper"
bind "KP_PGUP" "join_class spy"
1 = Scout, 2 = Soldier, 3 = Pyro, etc.
0 = join spectator
Probably works with TKL keyboards as well, assuming your keyboard has the proper layer.
ZabiSo i downloaded this and when I tried to open it, it said I needed .NET Framework 3.5 in order to use it..and I got the same message I'm usually getting
Found this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3wzxie/net_framework_35_error_code_0x80070002/
Found this as well, not sure if you've tried it yet: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-instal-net-framework-35-on-windows-10/450b3ba6-4d19-45ae-840e-78519f36d7a4?auth=1
ZabiEverything is up to date.
Is your GPU overclocked? Do you have any issues with games crashing or other graphical glitches? Do any other browsers crash on Youtube? Re-installed Chrome?
ZabiI've switched around things.
I've read mixed things, but from what I can tell, if your drivers are all up to date and there are no conflicts (no yellow/black !'s) in Device Manager (right-click start button > Device Manager) then you need a USB 2.0 hub.
Zabi.NET 3.5 Framework
Here is the official link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25150
ZabiChrome keeps crashing on youtube
In Chrome, go to three dots menu > Help > About Chrome and seeing if it's up to date, if not, update it. Try updating your GPU drivers, and seeing if there's an update for Windows as well (Start menu > cog icon > Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates) Also, post a list of what extensions you have installed for Chrome, if any.
ZabiI'm trying to use a printer
Try switching around the other things attached to your computer. If that doesn't work, you need a USB 2.0 hub
OCTANEDo you think Engies will now start hitting the cart in pubs?
Fun fact: thanks to a glitch, you used to be able to upgrade the cart to a level 3 dispenser.
suikahow is mumble going to be incorporated or is there going to be a voice chat overhaul?
Seconding this.
Regarding the timetable, look at the past few summers. In 2014 there was Love and War (June 18). In 2013 there was Robotic Boogaloo (May 17). In 2012 there was Mann vs. Machine (August 15) and Pyromania (June 27). Combined with the fact that some code supporting matchmaking has been in the game for at least six months (https://youtu.be/OIviG2U8h90?t=1m54s) I'd say the "at least a year off" estimate is very conservative and Valve knows more about when they'll be releasing MM than they let on.
The HLDS mailing list is where wickedplayer494 gets the patch notes from, and it's how he gets them so quickly. Anyone can subscribe to it to be notified of TF2 updates.
