I also just got a pair of these a while back and I'm not really sure why there's so much hype. The build quality is really solid and I'm a big fan of the reinforced bottom half cord. The sheen on the earbuds/volume adjuster looks really professional too.
However in terms of sound quality these are pretty disappointing. I'm experiencing very noticeable background static when used with my computer and phone. Furthermore, the actual earbud cable transmits a huge amount of noise when touched/moved/banged etc. You can forget about using these while running or working out in general which is really sad.
Honestly I got about the same level of enjoyment using some random headphones I found in my family's junk drawer and I assume those didn't cost $20.
