ReeroThis is the problem. When people judge posts by frag count and let it sway their decision to contribute to a discussion.

If you let the prospect of getting downfragged keep you from posting your opinion, it was never strong enough to be worth posting to begin with.

I see your point now, but in an ideal setting I would think that you +frag people you agree with, -frag shitposts and don't vote on contributing posts even if you disagree with them

eg.

guy
My stance on this is x and here is why
3 people agree
1 person doesn't
+3

other guy
my stance on this is contrary to guy and here is why
3 people disagree
1 person agrees
+1

shitposter
xD I am not contributing to the discussion
4 people agree this is a shitpost
-4

As you see, in a perfect setting by not voting on something you disagree with, you are successfully showing disapproval towards it.

That seems overly complicataed and not intuitive. +frags and -frags should be analogous in usage.

ReeroI get your point now, but nowhere in my post did I say that anyone had to contribute to the post after rating. I was just expressing that I normally only -frag shitposts, my bad for not expressing that eloquently.

Ye but by your rules, that would be the only valid way to show your disapproval of the content of the post.

ReeroI don't understand why $layer is being -fragged. Political opinions aside he put much effort and time into forming an articulate and convincing argument but people are -fragging him only because they disagree with him. I know minus frags might seem silly but I thought only shitposts and poorly made posts (Not $layers) are supposed to receive -frags..

If you're trying to say that everybody on this video game forum is supposed to undertake a structural, logical and syntactic analysis of every post to discern if it's objectively worthy of a + or -frag before rating it regardless of your own opinion of the comment and afterwards reply to the comment in detail to explain why all opinions presented in it are ridiculous and dumb,

Caspiandirectx 9 came out in 2003

maybe that post would make sense if directx 11 or 12 were the requirement
Air_its a stupid post. yeah its almost 2016 but this is an old ass game. dx8 was in the game when it was released, and its stupid to remove support for itmousiopehttp://i.imgur.com/udnyVD4.png
yeah guys come on directx 9 is only 14 years old! a whole 2 years younger than directx 8, god do you people know nothing........

Wow... "Why would MS discontinue XP professional now, when Vista is only 2 years younger wtf?" that's your argument?

Dx8 is outdated software, so is Dx9, but it is less outdated than Dx8, thus no matter how unsensible it is to run a game on Dx9, it is more sensible than running it in Dx8.
Using Dx8 means work would have to be put into updating and optimizing new graphics effects for it, and the 0.2% of the playerbase who not only have PCs bad enough to only get good fps in this outdated Dx, but are also not going to upgrade their systems any time soon.
All work should instead go into optimizing whatever Valve feels is the most modern and up-tp-date they can implement, and that's Dx9.

dollarlayerHe's pushing for both free higher education, and a $15 minimum wage. Sounds great on paper right, everyone likes free stuff. But when you actually do the math, and calculate the economic implications of these highly socialistic or even borderline communistic policies, you find out how disastrous they really are.

I don't think you a) are aware of all the countries that employ such "policies" (usually known as basic citizen rights) and do fine and b) know what the terms "socialistic" and "communistic" mean.

#32 Interested in a team based scrimming website? in Projects

Tbh, I don't see how/why Data would be going to put in the massive amounts of time that it takes to
a) make a great scrimming website with all the features that the other 3 (4?) existing options don't have
b) masssively advertise that scrimming website such that (even with tf2stadium around), all the teams will now use it, which never happened with any scrimming website ever in the past (without tf2stadium around)
c) maintain the servers, bugfix the site and interact with the community

all by himself, with evidently limited coding experience, for zero money, all while also getting his Bachelor (could make the site his exam project, but there's still additional work on the way there).

But if he does, nice.
