The day Mario Party Bros make lan is the day TF2 dies. I will donate to a fund that will make sure you don't go, however.

marmadukeGRYLLSI BID ONE DOLLAR BOB
You're not supposed to bid over face value.
I bid .01
wareyaNCLB ruined the school district where I live.
God knows why I read this as "WNBA ruined the school district where I live." but I laughed.
To be fair to platinum, the only reason I tried to get good in the first place was LAN.
I don't care if this is selfish, but the only reason I didn't play on any high level teams is because I would only put in the time for a team that was a shoe-in for LAN. I am just not willing to put in actual hours of practice if there is either no incentive (low invite) or a marginal risk of not making lan (medium invite).
I don't know about you guys but everyone has different lives and incentives, so to complain about others people's incentives is useless. My schedule was not open all day like some of the players in this game, and there is nothing wrong with either side, it's just the way it is. Like platinum, I was busy during most of the day and night, so playing TF2 for me was just a fun couple of hours before bed. I am simply not willing to succumb to all of the invite drama and other BS if the payoff is something like a money prize. Anybody with a job knows that it would not be a wise time investment to get good enough to be the best and then accept a money pot. Competition is the main reason I play, and playing at LAN is similar to playing on the big baseball diamond, the center tennis court, the center dodgeball court, etc. Beating someone on the big stage is infinitely more fulfilling than on a typical game / match / whatever. That is why LAN is important.
I am spewing out useless facts with my post, let me post something to summarize my thoughts:
Everyone plays for different reasons. Some people play for LAN, some for money, some for fun competition. The TOP players of the game are more skewed towards LAN than other tiers of players, so by removing LAN, you are removing the incentive for those players.
This is the longest post I have ever made for this forum, wow.
PlatinumThe exact thing you're talking about is why I started competing in the first place and I have thoroughly enjoyed competing against up and comers over the years, players like clockwork, lansky, Rando, yz50, all had drive to be the best and compete. This season has been miserable, and boring. Switching to another league with no incentive for any new clockworks or lanskys to come along will be even worse.
Are you saying.
That Bob Johnson and I.
Could save TF2?
I will DM 12 hours a day if this is what it takes.
blinKIt's an accomplishment, but not a major one.
WTF Blinky... After we won UGC platinum 2.5 years ago, I put that on my resume.
I would like to see a fully loaded roster not drop a single round over the course of the season.
marmadukeGRYLLShehe you guys r so funny (every1 knows ure not gunna cut the best player in tf2)

I'm on the left marmaduke. You're on the right.
marmadukeGRYLLSroot+6 to pick up clock and begin the process of cutting their way to the top
You're next marmaduke, I've been your team manager ever since I quit. None of you knew it, but now you do.
DunderBrothorn_If any LAN teams are looking for a soldier or scout hit me up before LAN rolls around I'll play real hard I promise.just remember that I'm offering the same things just before this dude.
Cannot deny that logic, +fragged.
If any LAN teams are looking for a soldier or scout hit me up before LAN rolls around I'll play real hard I promise.
Coming out of the woodwork to say that all of you should play DM instead of MGE. Goodbye.
trogI agree that it's nice when teams are evenly matched and have close games, but if a team is really good and is beating everyone I'm not going to wish they were worse (not saying this is what you're saying). I think all the arguments against the old Invite player limit in HL apply to superteams extremely well. Yes, it might take a season or two of one team dominating everyone, but it shows how a strong team plays and eventually teams catch up and the scene overall is improved (skillwise).
Invite is about having the strongest teams after all, and I like watching it because I get to see people who are really good at the game play. If all i wanted was close games I could watch open teams trade rounds because of dumb mistakes, but I'd rather see how the best teams in TF2 play. I don't think there's anything wrong with wishing for a team that's ridiculously good, because that's what I want to see when I watch top level tf2.
Although this guy seems to want one good team and everyone else to be bad, which is pretty dumb.
"This guy"
My name is right there man, that's a low blow.
