So I'm fed up with my laptop and I have decided to break down and buy a new computer. I'm sick of dropping 40 frames everytime I look at someone. Problem is - I have no idea how to build a computer. I want something that will run TF2 well and last me a few years, and run more intensive games decently (not on the highest graphics settings, but well enough to play).
Should I buy a prebuilt computer? Or if I buy all the parts to a computer, will I be able to figure out how it goes together (ie are there video that will be enough to teach me how, or some sort of lego style instruction book)? And if building is a good idea, what exactly do I need to buy (starting with only a monitor, mouse , and headset). I guess I need a case, motherboard, cpu, graphics/soundcard, etc. So basically I need a lot of advice. Thanks.

Poor Lange. Sort of related question, here's my results -
I usually ping around 90 to Chicago if my internet isn't spiking. But my ping is never stable, and it frequently sits around 100-130, and on a basically daily basis I get extended periods where my ping is fluctuating from 100-700, and I get rubberbanding etc. When I play TF2 it's pretty much always warpy. I have a Verizon apartment monopoly deal so until I move I can't change internet. I do run dsl wirelessly to my laptop. So my question is: would hardwiring to the dsl box make a significant difference? It'd be a big pain and other people live here too. But I'd consider if there'd be a big change.
Why did you remove the dh? I will donate to charity to get the dh back.
Also if you can pay to get your own item signed it adds more logistical work - the player would have to add the right person. And it'd be a pain to manually verify that the person asking for their weapon to be signed is the person who paid (I'm sure people would add in mass to try to get their stuff signed). It could develop into a nightmare.
SneakyPolarBearI think it'd be cooler to raffle off the prizes.
You could also do both:
Have raffles and "auctions" for big ticket items.
Have instant buys ($5 per signed wep) for smaller items.
I don't think you should be able to do instant buys. That turns it into more of a transaction system, making a charity a means to get people to sign things for you. Raffles/auctions function better in a charity situation.
Give it to Seanbud/Wreath for the charity.
Don't let the bad things spiral into ruining what good there is. This is a great event that's been put together and it's requires a big showing by the community to succeed. If bitterness towards FT turns you away from this, then grow up and remember this is an unrelated event raising money for kids in need.
Also you have a chance at winning the gunblade from AGDQ, along with many other things. So it's a win for everyone.
FogtimesthelegallimitOne thing that would be nice to fix - there's some freeze time at the beginning of some rounds. I guess it's not important, but it is really annoying.Like where you have to wait 20 seconds or whatever then it really starts the round?
No. It's normal during the short pregame, then when you have the reset before it really starts you're frozen for a few seconds. Only on some maps.

You don't need more than a few people to regularly use them everyday, and then their friends/people who see populated servers will join. A few days in and they're always full.
Next project: a near frag video of all the slight misses on what would have been ridiculous shots.
If any of you watched AGDQ, I won the gunblade from that. So as long as we raise a quite a bit more than that's worth, I will be raffling that off. This has jumped off a lot since the original idea, keep it going guys.
Look at one of the boxes in the left hand corner of this site - Upcoming Events. It's a list of topics for all the upcoming matches (and other things like Fully Charged) with all the information you need.
ChameleoNis there a stream?
