So me and a friend want to join a team together and we're looking for an open team that have scout and roamer positions open. We can both play around mid open but are willing to play low open if it means playing together.
We have played together on 2 teams previously so we know how each other plays pretty well.

I have a mumble server available for about a year if needed.
We are looking to tryout together. Both our schedules are pretty open.

I will be playing highlander but I value esea over that. My friend will not have any other obligations.

Try and be a bit more specific. Does it completely nullify your hitsound or do you just get the standard hitsound rather than the one you prefer? Either way, try verifying integrity of game cache but removing any hitsound files from your custom folder. Then check if you're able to hear the standard hitsound (if it nullified it). Then readd your hitsound file. This was the way I fixed it when I had a similar issue. It happened after I created a hitsound which of course ended up not working. It may have something to do with the file as well but this is the help I can give for now.

Yeah, that was one of the solutions i've tried actually. It remains in my launch options till this day.

For some bizarre reason, my game refuses to start whenever mumble in any instance is open. When I try to launch it, it says "Preparing to Launch Team Fortress 2" and then it shows the ingame on my profile for about 4 seconds before quickly returning to Online and never launching the actual game. I am however able to launch other games and i'm pretty sure it's linked to sourcemod games. The problem has persisted for a while now and is getting incredibly annoying as time goes on. I've researched the topic before but have never found a definitive solution to this issue. If anyone has any tips or know a definitive solution, let me know.

Also involving mumble is that there is no overlay for tf2 specifically. It is entirely possible that the overlay would be shown if mumble is launched first but because of the previous issue, I can't actually test this out but they are most likely linked. I have on the other hand tried other solutions but generally speaking, all these fixes wouldn't do much if launching tf2 after mumble is a requirement for overlay.
