#79 what keys do you use for your weapons? in TF2 General Discussion

r, w, and q for slots 1-3 respectively (ESDF funtimes)

also, this set to a, for escape plan stuff:

alias +MeleeQuickie "slot3"
alias -MeleeQuickie "slot1"
Toasterwhat's the point of binding different keys than the vanilla unless you used the keys in different games

I don't play any FPS other than TF2 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#33 ESEA S21 W2: froyotech vs. Ascent in Matches

I really hope that there's a highlight for muma's many, many successful sticky traps from this match, those were amazing

#59 Valve launches competitive beta public group in News

the "way it was meant to be played" wasn't competitive at all, in terms of how the game was at least balanced from ~09 until now. it's sort of a meaningless semantics argument anyways, because while "what was good before" can be good for statistical purposes, it's all about the most optimal and enjoyable way to play now, which for a competitive queuing system is 6v6, so that's that

no class limits will break immediately with teams that know what they're doing, even if valve thinks "welp, might as well try it out?" I feel like they'll put in class limits of some kind very quickly, since to try and balance around it would result in a wildly different game that takes away from how the classes are balanced (or precisely and intentionally unbalanced, rather)

all weapons will be a bit more interesting to look at long-term, methinks. gunslinger engineer is basically by design a slow-but-obnoxious scout, idk how that'll end up

#29 Memories when you started online gaming in Off Topic

finding out about other forums from NSider (they had a rule about never sharing friend codes, which is pretty peak nintendo thinking about it in hindsight), then thinking that a dude I met on there was a god because he had a save editor in animal crossing wild world and he gave me millions of bells

http://www.gaminggenerations.com/store/images/images_extra/REd_DS_Original_1.jpg

I also had the best DS, easy to notice in my horribly-cleaned pile of a room, looked cool, and everyone else around me had the shitty silver DS so I never confused my DS for anyone else's

OH SHIT WAIT I JUST REMEMBERED CAMP HYRULE TOO. I got banned for saying a naughty word in a chat wherein nobody could even read the word during it, and you couldn't even view the shitty flash site during the ban duration it was silly

also, if you want to pretend it's still 2003, here's a web browser for pokemon ruby and sapphire

#27 Valve launches competitive beta public group in News
BumFreezeall the threads in the group are stupid questions that have been confirmed ages ago lol

when b4nny mentioned stuff like DX9 restrictions in his MM talk, all the casuals flipped the fuck out because none of them pay attention to competitive tf2, and competitive tf2 figured that out a good month beforehand

this is a lot of anecdotal stuff, but then there's also how recently, the same casual players started paying attention to glitches/exploits that have been the game for sometimes as long as the game's existed. there's a huge gap of information between the two

#4 THE MOST EXPENSIVE TF2 COMPUTER in TF2 General Discussion

context: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXOaCkbt4lI

the idea of a team playing LAN all from the same computer sounds incredibly cool, even though I know there is objectively no good reason you'd ever do so

#20 Viaduct : Sun or Snow in Map Discussion
Foxi would play on this map even with a 100 fps drop

see the icy performance-murdering reflections for a tactical advantage

the main issue with snow comes in the fact that very little of the snow itself is friendly to depth perception. compare and contrast:

http://comp.tf/images/5/5a/Badlands_Second.jpg

ol' reliable badlands spire. despite having quite a lot of different kinds of areas to walk/jump/strafe around, mostly using the same overall color, the texture differences still let you know the depth of every area, from the jaggedness of the spire itself to the cliff textures around trash showing even the slightest change in height.

https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/2/24/Viaduct_house.jpg

on the flipside, if you never played viaduct before and you looked at this, the depth is a lot less obvious. the game tries its damnest to muddy up the snow as much as feasibly possible but even then you're not getting too much of a precise idea on the way slopes are angled, which would be less of a deal if the entire map wasn't very much built around being a hilly slope

#30 ALL ABOARD THE ASIAN I58 HYPE TRAIN in TF2 General Discussion

even if asia's teams were terrible and awful, a good way to becoming a better region is to fight teams from stronger regions and learn from there

so long as nobody gets screwed in the donations, having 100% dedicated teams willing to prove themselves from around the world can only be a good thing

#16 Solemn Vow Balance Proposal in TF2 General Discussion
Twiggy
the -/+ advantage of the enemy medic.

which one?

what if you're in pubs and there is 10 medics in front of you?

1) you can just mouse over a different medic, if this is such a logistical nightmare

2) even if that point was genuine, it's still meaningless because once MM is out we should not be balancing for pubs

#10 Solemn Vow Balance Proposal in TF2 General Discussion

the solemn vow's current "downside", as it's given on comp.tf, is literally just "doing the thing that it lets you do could be slightly dangerous", which is like saying you shouldn't use a knife to stab someone because if you need to stab someone you're probably in a bad spot

#5 dalakoh's bar is now a rollout strat* in TF2 General Discussion

it's pretty obviously a bug, since it happens immediately after the first HP raise effect starts, it's gonna be patched. just throwing it out publicly until then, since idk how it'll be handled in ETF2L

#40 ESEA S21 Map Vote in TF2 General Discussion

aren't maps pretty infamously difficult, if not flat-out impossible to change after being heavily artpassed?

also, idk why "this is a custom map" is an argument against a map if the result of that map being voted out is to vote in another custom map
