#11 Valve's Escrow, Help stop it now ! in Off Topic

actually, this might be a teensy bit worse, since now I feel like kids will see that, think "oh, I just need something that can take an SMS? alright, I'll go google it" and then their verification will be on one of the shady free sms receiver sites, of which anyone will be able to publicly view their auth

valve underestimates how dumb teens can be

#9 Valve's Escrow, Help stop it now ! in Off Topic

should point out: geel already has a C# lib for the mobile auth, and someone's already working on a desktop program for it with him

https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/3uc1va/ive_made_a_c_library_to_easily_enablemanageuse/

this means that the escrow's one job (a final fool-proof wall against scammers) is easily bypassable, since if you can get some twit to confirm their email trade, then you can get them to download a program

#5 A spectator's guide to comp TF2 video series in Videos

perhaps as a better wording: explain a specific section of a match, a short, but still key winning round. something that can give off a lot of easy-to-digest info within about four minutes

my overall point, though, is that the first thing new people see from this should be describing what makes people love the game

#3 A spectator's guide to comp TF2 video series in Videos

while I like the idea, I should note that, for at least the first part of this, you shouldn't really explain rules and formats at all. not inherently because it's a bad point to bring up, mind, but because the most important part of a good game is its core concepts, and as such, for the first section, you should try and explain why we love those concepts.

it's easy to pick from ssbm just b/c of how well-executed its grassroots efforts were, but lemme pick from that again: think about how the first episode of the smash brothers showed the game. it never actually went into much detail over formats or even most of the mechanics until it sufficiently explained just why people find it a beautiful game.

as an example, maybe analyse a recent match in general language (explaining the core things like deathmatching and uber pushes along the way), focusing on a simple overall strategy and what makes them work

#7 Need Help Building My Streaming PC in Hardware

good news, a tf2-gaming pc and a streaming pc match up to be pretty similar. tf2 is a CPU hog, and (at least, in comparison to its CPU usage) it doesn't requires all that bulky of a graphics card, so as a general rule you want a CPU that can handle both obs and tf2 at the same time and a good mid-range graphics card

#30 b4nny on mangoes???? in TF2 General Discussion

also I missed this but

PaddieI have 31 hours on tf2 in the past 2 weeks and I have no real intention of rapidly increasing my play-time, and I will also be playing a bunch of overwatch outside of scrims and matches as soon as I can get in the regular closed beta (I played it for a majority of the weekend beta and had a ton of fun). I'm not sure that qualifies me for much of the potential criteria you are claiming exists mustard.

this argument is very heavily semantics-based, b/c while obviously not explicitly said, it's implied that by virtue of b4nny wanting these things now in a potential team, he would still want those same values in the future

#13 Team Fortress 2 Update 25 November 2015 in TF2 General Discussion

it's annoying to think abt how bad valve is at handling changing/fixing their old maps when they've also denied map makers updating their own maps that got official

like if you're gonna take this long to fix really obvious stuff, you can at least let others fix it for you, idk

Valve Time Everybody. All will come to pass in time.

#2 AMD graphics drivers have a major update in Hardware

also there's a fancy new UI for most of the basic settings, which I presume isn't fully complete since there's an "additional settings" button that just sends you back to the old CCC
