#1 competitive tf2 wiki? in TF2 General Discussion

hey guys,

you don't know me very well if at all, since i'm pretty much a low-div fly on the wall. but i have a proposition!

i recently acquired, thanks to my job, a managed centOS server with cpanel, whm, ~1GB of RAM, 75GB of storage, and 2TB of bandwidth (UL/DL) for free. of course this can be upgraded at any point, but that means it'd be coming out of my pocket. since i really don't have a ton of use for the server right now, and the server's hostname is a tf2 joke (which will be disclosed when i get private WHOIS set up...), i was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping set up and maintain a TF2 wiki *specifically* dedicated to competitive play?

my idea would be to find a couple people, obviously from the community, well-versed in wiki markup and maintaining websites to assist me in maintaining it. the wiki itself would be freely edited by anyone with an account, and COULD also host a dictionary of competitive terms and separate pages for map-specific strategies.

if something like this already exists feel free to point me to it, but if you're interested in starting something like this up, feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

#18 Tech help forum/streaming subforum! in Hardware

if you use wifi turn off wireless on your router and buy a separate access point

if you're wired there isn't much you can do except disabling everything that uses the network (last.fm clients, torrents, etc)

#1 versatile player lf starting position in Recruitment (looking for team)

revised again

i play soldier usually but i really wanna start getting into scout since i've been told by friends and teammates my hitscan aim is way better than my projectile aim. i have 2 seasons of highlander experience as a sniper so i'm comfortable and efficient while offclassing it, and i have a decent degree of 6v6 experience. i'm currently edging on 1.2k hours of tf2 with ~57 on scout and ~120 on sniper.

i'm a pretty nice guy and once i get comfortable with people i can be somewhat talkative but i'm usually pretty boring initially. the major reason i haven't found a team, though: my new work schedule is really fucked up. i work 4 pm to midnight EST saturday through wednesday so my weekend is thursday and friday. i know it's pretty unlikely that i'll find a team as long as my schedule is like this but i wanna keep trying until i find someone who thinks i'm worthwhile enough to work around it.

i really don't care about starter/backup at this point, i just wanna -play- on a team.

add me on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/wutang_ebooks/

as an aside: i've recently started playing with a much lower sensitivity than i'm used to, so the 1"/360 comments are somewhat outdated. it's now at 3.7"/360.

#9 L4D on Linux in TF2 General Discussion

as an ardent linux user and sysadmin i'm honestly excited to see if this pans out and actually helps graphics support for linux not be a shitfest. but if this ends up being a dead project i'll just stay on win7.
