#1 CS:GO update for 10/3/18 (1.36.5.4) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ GAMEPLAY ]
– Updated FBI character models have been deployed to Nuke, Agency, and Office.
– Enabled MP5-SD in official Competitive Matchmaking.
– Added a new setting “mp_solid_teammates 2” which enables standing on top of teammates while still allowing to walk through them. The feature is now enabled in official Casual, Demolition, and Flying Scoutsman game modes.

[ SERVERS ]
– This update includes an updated version of steamclient.so for Linux dedicated servers which has multiple threading and integration fixes. For a limited time and old version of steamclient.so can still be used on CS:GO Linux dedicated servers.

[ MISC ]
– The 2018 Inferno collection and 2018 Nuke collection are now available as rank-up drops.
– Updated alpha channels on the SSG 08 and Mac-10 in the new 2018 Inferno collection.
– Fixed rare cases where audio device configuration will not save properly.
– Fixed the Beartooth Music Kit to respect MVP music volume.

[ PANORAMA ]
– Fixed a VRAM leak in threaded Open GL contexts on OSX and Linux.
– Fixed a rare mouse left-click issue on OSX.
– Multiple performance improvements for OSX and Linux clients.
– Added support for DDS files using DXT3 compression.
– Added support for DDS encoded PNG files.

[ MAPS ]
Nuke:
– Made corridor leading to ramp room from T side slightly wider
– Moved doors connected to trophy room slightly
– Changed CT team to FBI

Train:
– Removed angled pieces on bombtrain in A site
– Improved player collision on bombtrain in A site
– Added grenade collision to ceiling of heaven in A site

Office:
– Made windows fully breakable instead of partially
– Fixed snowman’s hat not falling off when getting shot in the snow-head.
– Smoothed out movement on stairs
– Widened openings by CT spawn and truck in garage
– Moved some furniture in T spawn
– Fixed some minor graphical glitches
– Tweaked lighting in CT spawn

Rumor has it:

- In case you didn't believe Valve about stacking teammates in casual, mp_solid_teammates has been switched to 2 - have fun boosting your teammates (literally!)

- Now that the FACEIT Major has finished, the default landing page on the Watch tab has been adjusted to the global live matches tab. But if you sign up within the next 4 minutes, you get James White's Best Christmas Songs, and a watermelon signed by Dan Black for free!

- Speaking of the FACEIT Major, the in-game Champion and Finalist trophies have been updated. Inscribed into CS:GO history on the Champion trophy is Astralis and their squad, and inscribed on the Quarter-/Semi-/Finalist trophy are the names of the teams that advanced to the main event (the latter of which is awarded individually based on how far they got and named accordingly)
- If you go to a pro profile and inspect one of these trophies, you may notice a slight problem now that we're in a post-Scaleform world: you can't spin the trophy around completely to read everything on it (in Scaleform, it did so on its own), and in some situations the text on trophies can be hard to read (in Scaleform, the inspection periodically zoomed in and out)
- Here's an even bigger problem than that: can you spot what's wrong with the Champion trophy?

- This is the first time that Office has gotten an update since 5/29/15 (5/30/15 UTC), or 1223 days. The last time it was updated, it was to fix a bad nav mesh spot

- Otherwise, it's a bunch of script updates to accommodate the new FBI CT models and localization
- Oh, one other thing, not that Source 2 might be a certainty anytime soon, Source 2-style dates/times have been added to the csgo_english file

- Size is ~120 MB

- This update brings an end to a new record-long update drought which totalled 49 days since the 8/2/18 (8/3/18 UTC) updates

- Size is ~35 MB

------------------------

NCIX customers should be aware of an extremely serious data breach, which is a particularly dangerous situation due to the range of affected data (everything) as well as the inclusion of extremely sensitive info like SINs of former employees.

Newegg customers should also be aware of a separate data breach that affected recent purchases made between August 13th/14th through September 18th.

#1 OPTIONAL CS:GO update for 9/13/18 in CS2 General Discussion

Via the new csgo_servers:

Vitaliy GenkinAn optional stability update for CS:GO game servers to address a GOTV issue on Windows servers has been released with PatchVersion=1.36.5.3 and ServerVersion=783.

Rumor has it:

- Other than stability fixes for servers, it's localization made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You

- Wait, what, the new csgo_servers? If you missed the email Valve sent you, they've tossed out their self-hosted GNU Mailman box that the csgo_servers mailing list was on (and the HLDS lists for TF2 and CS:S users), in favor of a cloud provider (Simplelists). If you were previously a subscriber to the old list, you must resubscribe to csgo_servers to continue getting messages
- If you tried to sign up in the first hour or so when the switch happened a few months ago but weren't able to due to subscription limits, you should be able to try again successfully

- In case it wasn't obvious what Vitaliy said, this update is OPTIONAL for server operators

- Size is close to 10 MB

#1 CS:GO update for 9/11/18 (9/12/18 UTC) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[PANORAMA]
– Optimized scoreboard per player updates to run only when scoreboard is open.
– Fixed several rare error cases when placing Pick’Em predictions.
– Fixed spectator player stats display in overtime.
– Fixed a rare case of Steam UI displaying EmbeddedStreamCurrentTime dialog outside of game.

Rumor has it:

- Other than the above Panorama-related changes and the addition of a missing quotation mark in Thai localization, this update basically introduces TazeIt's new Super Advanced Security System. (Wow, it's so light-weight! Feels like there's nothing inside.)

- Courtesy reminder: you have until 2:00 AM CDT/0800 BST to make your Pick'Em picks for the group stage of the FACEIT Major. Make sure you LOCK THEM IN by pressing the Update Picks button, otherwise you'll lose them

- On a tangentially related note because of a new "Counter-Strike Chat" DLC application surfacing, Steam.tv viewers can get some new CS:GO-themed Steam chat emoticons

- Size is close to 10 MB

#1 CS:GO update for 9/10/18 (9/11/18 UTC, 1.36.5.3) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ SOUND ]

– Added a server setting “mp_footsteps_serverside” which is enabled by default and switches footsteps near the player from using a mix of client-simulated and server-authoritative to purely server-authoritative.

Rumor has it:

- Now that you can make picks for the group stage of the FACEIT Major, the default Pick'Em landing page has been changed to the group stage page

- You can also view the leaderboard now and brag to your friends on how many points you got from the Challengers stage

- Pick'Em picks and results from PGL Krakow 2017 and onward have been restored

- And aside from a local sync of the Steam Datagram system configuration that took out some IP ranges for the Frankfurt relay cluster, that's about it

- Size is ~10 MB

#1 CS:GO Blog: "FACEIT 2018 – Ways to Watch" in CS2 General Discussion

http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2018/09/21005/

CS:GO TeamThe Major is about to begin and there are more ways to watch than ever! For a chance to receive collectible Souvenir Packages, view matches in-game through GOTV, on Steam.tv, or on Twitch with a linked Steam account.

Nuke and Inferno Collections

For the London Major we are introducing new weapon collections for Nuke (with contributions by Chemical Alia and Millenia), and Inferno (with contributions by kosear). You can find the new weapon finishes in Souvenir Packages during the event.

Each Souvenir Package contains a weapon from the collection of the map being played with golden stickers of the event, the participating teams, and a golden signature of the MVP from the round the souvenir dropped.

There’s still time to make your picks for the Challengers Stage, so don’t miss your chance to pick up some points toward a Pick’Em trophy!

[PANORAMA]
– Added better support Panorama UI on low-end machines. via @panorama_eco_mode (default 1). 0: disabled. 1: automatic. 2: forced on
– Added support for weapon stickers and character gloves on the character featured in the main menu.
– Fixed a case where weapon finishes appeared overly dark.
– Adjusted optimal movie resolution based on user’s CPU and GPU levels.
– Fixed extra bright flashlight on characters when loading non-HDR community maps.

[MP5-SD]
– Darkened exposed metal on ejection port and bolt.

– Updated the Settings menu to display the Steam Controller Configurator if a Steam Controller is detected.
– Added a new recommended Steam Controller config to better support the Buy menu and Team Select menu.
– Miscellaneous stability and security improvements.

Rumor has it:

- FACEIT Major stickers are here: http://www.counter-strike.net/pickem/london2018
- Team Pick'Em makes a return, but for those of you that couldn't get enough of making fantasy teams during The International 8, Fantasy Pick'Em unfortunately has not returned

- You guessed it, there is a lot of stickers and a lot of string updates in this one. Dig in and press View for your favorite stickers!

- Full-res Pick'Em Trophies, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Spoiler alert: Doritos are back in style.
- Souvenir packages will return for the FACEIT Major. Here's the icon for Inferno's, one of 8 possible packages you might get while you watch. Spoiler alert: Valve's still using the old Inferno and Dust 2 map icons.

- RIP Autodesk Scaleform in CS:GO - August 21, 2012 - August 29/30, 2018

- There are several reports that Valve forgot to make @panorama_eco_mode actually work, and it seems that Valve has removed mention of it from the notes. It'll remain here as acknowledgement that it did surface, but you should notice that it's struck out

- Valve has changed competitive rank readjustment behavior for parties that have cheaters that get VACcinated. Your rank may now expire and not be displayed until you win one competitive match on top of being readjusted, as revealed in the updated in-game notification

- Size is ~125 MB

#1 CS:GO Blog: "Winning is Everything" in CS2 General Discussion

http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2018/08/20904/

CS:GO TeamIn just over a week the next CS:GO Major Championship will get under way! At the opening Challengers Stage (September 5-9), we’ll watch the top two teams from each region (Americas, Asia, CIS, and Europe) battle the bottom eight teams from last Major’s Legends Stage.

However, next time we will not extend an invitation to every bottom eight team from the Legends Stage. The two teams who finish 0-3 in the London Legends Stage will need to qualify through the Minors for Katowice 2019.

And so, two teams will make an early exit from the Major Championship circuit. To replace them, two additional teams will qualify from the regional Minors: the third-place teams from each region will take part in a brief playoff, with the top two advancing to the main event.

(In other words, two regions will send an extra team to Katowice)

Which teams will live to fight another day and which two will get sent back to the drawing board? Join us in London and find out!

- Like the MP7, the MP5-SD can be used by both the Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist sides, for the same price as the MP7 ($1500)
