I was gonna recommend an ebay page but I have no clue where you are from. either way, you'll be able to find your motherboard on ebay if you'd rather stick with the same setup. I also have an x58 mobo still going strong. Was it slammed around or something to cause that? maybe taken in a car to a LAN?

if you can get over the thought of buying used/ refurbished you will save a ton of money. I was tight on cash and wanted a laptop with a 120hz screen so I went with an older model Toshiba a665. I bought it "used" from cowboom.com, which I believe is BestBuy's site they use to sell returns or refurbished electronics. either way, the laptop I bought didn't have a scratch on it and still had the stickers. sorry I just wanted to share that.

on topic: that laptop you linked wouldn't be well suited for gaming due to the intergrated graphics card. you will want something that has a dedicated chip, which 99% of the time will be ATi or nvidia. the laptop I bought has a lower end i5-2410m with a nvidia gt 540m and it runs tf2 without a hitch. anything alienware/Asus g73/75 line would be overkill for a college student imo. I'd recommend doing research on a laptop model you like and has nice reviews, and possibly shopping eBay for someone getting rid of it whether it be new/used. I'd also recommend deals.woot.com and slickdeals.net.

I have att with the galaxy s3. pretty sweet phone when you put cyanogenmod 10 on it. also, pick up an extended battery for it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_box_?k=zero+lemon+7000 this is the best extended battery for it imo, due to the intelligent design using the case for a backing, price, and 180 day warranty. I'm pretty sure you can get the s3 for super cheap now.
