New sorting algorithm is now live!
Video resources will automatically be listed related to the video's age, likes, views, a ratio of likes:views. I might update this later so very new videos and smaller channels are promoted a bit more. Check it out at mapreview.tf
Highlander and Language support is now live!
If you have highlander or non-english resources to add please head over to mapreview.tf
~~~ I am not familiar with too many highlander map review resources - if you are please head on over to our discord and drop some links to resources or add them yourself on the submit page ~~~~
suprayo that's such a good thing, honestly i'm happy to see it because it's a thing which we missed for tf2pickup.org project and i think we could just leave a link to your website in our website clients so newcomers could see it and get an easier start
there is a couple of things you could change in your project from ui/ux perspective:
This list is super helpful thanks! I'll add the UI improvements and language support to the list. Most of what I've focused on so far is the backend, so there's a lot to do to make it feel nicer.
zherncan you have a section for frag videos / lore that are absolutely essential for new players to see (i49 fragumentary, quik vids, kaptain vids, clockwork vids, etc)
I'm not planning on adding a frag vids category unless there are a ton of requests for that. There are a ton of great vids there but i feel like you can just let youtube autoplay and you'll get the good stuff without a dedicated search.
Also EDIT: Just made a discord server if anyone wants to talk there: Discord
JakeyTwiggyfunnily enough there is this thread that popped up which is about achieving something close to what you state: https://www.teamfortress.tv/62877/mapreview-tf-competitive-tf2-resource-repositoryI just wonder if maybe some of the videos submitted are outdated. Not to mention there aren’t any real videos besides arekk’s video that I would consider a good explanation of each class and their role.
For sure alot of gaps in really good content not made 10 years ago - so yalls effort to make more resources is awesome!
nowahwebsite is really cool
it would be nice to filter the videos by upload date so its not flooded by grandpas and outdated strats tho.
Yes! filtering and sorting by date is coming up soon. I was also thinking to add a sort of flag button that people can click, maybe for a given timestamp range to report outdated info.
Twiggythis is a cool idea instead of creating yet another how to series for the zillionth time.
Do you plan to include written ressources as well? I'm thinking old sigma guides or even comp.tf pages.
Yep! text resources will be coming soon, I'll likely just have them be a link to existing pages, since copyright is an issue and I dont want to step on anyones toes by reposting without permission. Open to ideas on this.
JakeyThis is awesome actually, I’d love to help out in anyway I can
Super! Right now the best ways to help are giving feedback/suggestions on features and submitting new resources. If you think there are resources that dont fit into the specific youtube form submission page, post them here or send an email to mapreviewtf@gmail.com so I can try to keep track for the future.
The current list of resources is alot smaller than it should be. If you know of any videos that are missing that absolutely should be in this app please add them here!
Welcome to mapreview.tf
Whats up blu team! Welcome to mapreview.tf - a repository of TF2 map reviews, class guides, and other resources made by the competitive community. As a TF2 veteran but comp newbie, I found it extremely hard to find good guides without combing through the internet for days or watching through an hour long video, so I've worked up this site which you can search through the (growing) list of resources by specific map, class, role, and creator.
This is still in early develpment, so I am looking for alot of feedback on what is helpful or features that can be implemented or improved. Right now, there is support for 6s format youtube videos and I've been testing out using the youtube clips (max 1 minute length) to clip out especially relevant bits. The goal of this is to be helpful to everyone, but especially new players who might not have the capacity to comb over everything, and just need an easy way to search whats out there.
In the future Im planning to add support for (in order of importance):
Please let me know what you think should be added or changed - any feedback is appreciated ~Discord Link~
New Changes
Hi all - I've been working on an app that is essentially a repository for comp guides and map review resources -> mapreview.tf
WildRumpus and Taylor and others put out similar ideas, so I realize others might be heading in the same direction. Right now the functionality is very similar to the dead training tf, but lets you filter by classes, roles, maps, and creators. Its still in the early development stages, but I'm hoping for some feedback from those who would be in this thread. hit me up on discord Zebulon#1215 or send an email to the link in the about section on the page
