eXtineYao, just wanted to pipe in real quick.
We can't release the 50fps version on YT, YT doesn't support higher frame rates.
You could had chosen to release the 50fps version on torrent.
The other alternative is that you could had used my server as a download alternative. Afterall luke, airon and other extv members has already utilized my server for storing the documentary footage and other extv relative files.

#301 No plans that I've heard of. The most I'll do is shitty vlogs with Google Glass or a Sony thing.
rapscallioneA lot of people brought up the length of the doc- for me, 35 minutes out of four days of volunteer work is quite long. I've shot 5 straight 16 hour days to produce an 8 minute video. The amount of footage that's unusable after you've decided the story that you want to tell is much more than you think it is.
@LuckyLuke- how exactly did you shoot for 50 fps? For frag vids, sure, but that's a really strange frame rate for live action footage. What gear were you running for this?
It also becomes harder and harder the longer the work is. The length of the video and the amount of time spent working on it are related exponentially

I'm pretty sure it's a miniscule amount of people who have an issue with the $5 thing, either because they don't understand they can still watch it for free at 1080p on YT, or because they're actually retarded, or maybe just because they like to start shit.
Either way, I'd keep the optional $5 purchase/donation.

gotta be honest, im sorta disappointed there isn't more actual gameplay footage (from what we've been told). didn't extv get like an exclusive deal to get all the frags or w/e so bones couldn't make an i46 fragvid? why not use that to full effect?
I'm fairly sure all the STVs were released 10 months ago or so.
Also the guys saying they were misled have a point. It might not be a cast iron one, but if extv folks could have just admitted that then they wouldn't have felt the need to argue till they were blue in the face and rape 5 pages of this thread.

Yeah, when we decided our direction was not going to be "30-minute frag vid," we released the STVs.

Both Sal and LL brought it up that the decision to have the highest of high quality paid for was a recent one. If we can't trust them with those words why are we trusting them with anything? I for one absolutely trust them, hell I wish there was a DVD I could pay for. If they said the option only came along now to make a Super HQ video, and they're releasing a 1080p on YouTube regardless, this shouldn't even be a discussion about the integrity of eXtv, Sal, LL, or anyone.

The only ones raping this thread for 5 pages are those criticizing extv. They themselves have only posted a couple of educated replies since. Idk what thread you have been reading.

kwahlsterWill there be an i49 documentary?
I plan on shooting some content that I will not upload right away to YouTube. I plan on, with the help of an editor, piecing together a small documentary for i49. I'm in the process of lining up interviews with iM and hopefully broder and epsilon as well. Either way along with my normal
Content I hope to release a mini docu on everything at i49. :)

I think I'm most worried at the lack of any real content coming out of i49. This is possible the biggest tf2 lan ever, bigger even than i46 and there's no documentary planned, no fragmovie contest, no after movie or after fragmovie, nothing real has been talked about or planned.
Somebody should organize a frag video contest. I would donate to the prize pool.

you can bet your ass that i'll be making a frag movie highlighting i49 frags. With help from he community to locate the big plays it will certainly be done within a week of the event.

Comedian was looking into content management today.

I'm not attending this time but I'd love to help out with some of this stuff. I'm sure Sal will be shooting some videos too. Send it to me! :D

Wait wasn't there supposed to be one or am I insane?

I mean it's pretty obvious the theme for the i46 documentary will be america vs europe, but think of the possibilities of an i49 documentary, aussies are coming too... We could have kangaroos, dropbears, bald eagles, explosions and drunk irish guys all in the same video.
I seriously hope this is reconsidered. There's still 3 weeks left, more than enough to evaluate the interest in such kind of work and even start crowdfunding it to get equipment / work time paid.

I know Shade will take great video. It's probably going to be mainly up to him to talk to an editor and get the rights to all the streamed content and i49 photos/videos.
PoeticJusticeOnly thing that makes me kind of sad is the 35~ minute runtime. I would prefered longer, and hope there will be a way I can own or d/l in a "package" all the footage or interviews, or at least to view them. LL mentioned them as later uploads, but I'd pay (5? 10? 20?) for a separate edition or bonus edition with those stuff in them.
fcking paid Day 1 DLC for a DVD.

Regarding demos, we were never in control of STVs. We wanted to have some sort of control over the player's POV demos to make sure that they were recorded + transfered to us, and to make sure none of the players made deals behind our backs that would hurt our own coverage. It was hypothetical paranoia that wasn't meant to stand in the way of good things, unfortunately it did elicit a negative responsive.
TBH our collection of POV demos from the event was kind of disappointingly incomplete, we didn't snag everything liked I hoped.

lamefx2sy_morphiendIt's not even a big deal for me2sy_morphiendI'm not bothered by it that much,
You made like 10 posts in this thread. dont give us this farce about it not being a big deal or bothering you.
I know this might be difficult to understand but posting isn't labor intensive and I don't think my attitude regarding tf2 over the last 4 seasons has ever eclipsed anything other than flippant.
If you'll recall my first post related to this matter was simply me laughing at how you have to now pay for the documentary of the event you paid to make happen after it had quite clearly been assumed that it was a community project (For the record it is also a company's responsibility to dispel rumors about themselves/their products if it really never was the case that eXtv planned on it being free). I don't need to define volunteer for a fortieth time, and sal's jumpy defense of how I'm clearly implying that luke shouldn't receive any compensation for "a year's worth of work" (despite the fact that he's an employee of eXtv and was responsible for a large part of why the fucking thing took so long) is pretty much the only reason there's been any drama. I didn't exactly make a real effort of finding "The least constructive and most vocal way" to critique the project but Sal is about as rabid regarding eXtv as yaug is regarding minorities.
I've pointed out that the management of the production would probably make ESEA look like a Caribbean cruise liner, but for the largest portion of this community (people that have been playing the game for less than a year) seem to be more concerned with how they can give eXtv more money for the project despite the gross mishandling of it.
All in all the only conclusions that I can come to are that eXtv caters to newer players and those same newer players make bioware forum goers look about as detached as aged hookers, and that Sal should probably lower his vicodin dosage before he gives makaveli a run for his money.

I love how anytime people bash eXtv we're always painted as catering to newbs.
June, you have a valid reason to be a bit surprised by the news as yeah, we hadn't really discussed our distribution plans fully. we had hinted at having some sort of paid product and hadn't met with any direct opposition to us having some sort of paid route.
Movies take time to make. Not saying it couldn't have been done faster (or even better), but the docu came together without a clear leading document before the event took place and our main collaborating forces are in Germany, Netherlands, Texas, and Oregon. Kinda hard to get together hash out details and make decisions or watch re-edits immediately. We also all have our own obligations to take care of. We're not perfect, but we're also not installing bitcoin networks on unsuspecting user's computers.
