I'm thinking about getting an instrument this Christmas, I'm not quite sure what to look for honestly. I had taken some music classes over a decade ago, but didn't really want to practice that much, because, you know... being in the 3rd grade. Going to be trying some things out this month or te next. What instruments do you guys play? Even if electronic stuff like EDM production.

I played the drums for about 3 years then sold my drumset since I didn't really play anymore as my family got annoyed.

i've played a lot of different instruments, but i don't think i'm really proficient in any of them except for the piano and most percussion instruments

i used to be okay at trombone and guitar, but i haven't played those in years

i bought a bouzouki while i was in greece and still haven't found anyone that would be able to teach me how to play it locally lmao

I've played violin, piano, recorder, and accordion. I would recommend accordion strongly if you're interested in having most of the world hate you with a passion. Once you learn the meaning behind the chord layout it's really easy to get something nice-sounding going, but still works best accompanying other instruments that can drive a melody better.

I've played guitar for 4 years, which I wasn't particularly good at.

HOWEVER, switching over to bass was the best thing I did. I want to learn other instruments in the future, too.

I learned guitar for a few years, and played it a lot after that until college, haven't had the time to pick it up regularly but I still play ocasionally. It's really cool to have some hobby in which you can immerse yourself and simply have a good time with it.

I would love to get into electro and be able to write some stuff, but most the gear is really expensive

I play trombone and viola. I'm the least cool person amongst any group of musicians.

Except maybe oboists. Fuck them.

I would probably recommend just learning to play piano. It's the most versatile of any instrument, requires no accompaniment, and can create ridiculously good music. It does, however, require quite a lot of work.

I've been playing guitar for almost 5 years now. I would say that I'm pretty good but one thing I really wanna get down is sweep picking. I can do pretty much every other technique proficiently besides that one.

Here are some beautiful songs that I wrote.

Here's some more serious stuff.
http://youtu.be/9_tshY6LKFc (kinda sloppy because my hands were tired from practicing)

Electric bass for about 8 years now. I've learned some piano and I played trumpet throughout middle school, but I don't practice either of them anymore.

played guitar for a week before i realized my fingers couldn't do the thing. i'm interested in picking up something like piano later on. i was interested in the drums but there's no foreseeable future that includes me not pissing people off by practicing

I played pretty much everything brass through middle/high school and was good enough to place well in state comp. Also taught myself piano to a decent degree and guitar to a "good enough to impress girls with shitty songs" degree. Not really being able to read music sort of limits what you can do in the long run though.

Platypusbass clarinet :)

I remember being in the high school Olympic band from my city and there was only 3 of us. People need to play the bass clarinet more; it sounds amazing.

It's great because I can often switch from clarinet to bass clarinet, fingerings are the same.

I play Clarinet and Alto Sax. I've also played Bass Clarinet and Oboe in the past. I was a pretty shit oboist though.

Or play on a V-Drum like I do. I own a Roland TD4. It's awesome even though the rubber pads can get annoying to people but I play through an amp most of the time and that usually drowns the sticks hitting the pads.
