I felt like it was worth opening a thread, even though I'm not american this show had a very strong influence on me for years, Jon wit and delivery made it so amazing to watch and I really learned a lot from it. From your country perspective, and also certainly influenced my sense of humor and way of thinking. It's the end of an era.

Here's my favorite moment of the last episode, altough the whole episode is amazing.

Jon couldn't even make eye contact with Colbert during the whole time, really shows how emotional he got.

That "bullshit" monologue was powerful. "If you smell something, say something". Really the end of an era

Jon is legendary, and I hope he still stays around in some capacity, regardless if it's the Daily Show or other places.

Shit, thanks for the thread. It's so hard to watch anything on CC's dinghy ass Flash based player that I just gave up on following the Daily Show (G-b-n knows I tried).

It was a beautiful episode, particularly since most of it was dedicated to everyone but Jon; yet more proof of what an amazing person he is. Whatever Jon does next I'll follow to the best of my ability.

Also, I hope that Trevor Noah will prove me wrong as he just seems lame as hell to me.

I hope everyone who was a big Daily Show fan is either already watching Last Week Tonight with John Oliver or will migrate to it now

So influential and yet so humble at the same time. Jon Stewart proved that these two traits weren't mutually exclusive and kept The Daily Show real, going strong for 16 years. Truly one of the greatest television personalities of all time...

And also that anyone that enjoys John Oliver also takes some time out of living to listen to The Bugle (Shameless plug for my fav podcast )

Having watched some of Trevor Noah's stand up from a few years ago, I think he'll be fine. It'll be different, and probably a little rocky at the start, but to be honest the mainstay of the show will still be there - especially since he'll get at least a full year of easy pickings because of a 17 strong GOP field and a Democratic race that will mostly focus on the Clintons. His main shtick is much the same as Jon Stewart's was (self-deprecating origin stories).

I think having an international host will also help play to the international audience of the show, since I suspect Trevor Noah will be a little more keen on issues pertaining to places other than the US.

But the last episode was indeed quite the event I was surprised they got every correspondent back, and the original host - I still remember watching Killborn and being a little thrown off by the new much younger looking Stewart lol.
