Many people go afk so they can get kicked from the arena to save their elo. Is this fixable?
elo is fine. its annoying how the round restarts so frequently, but i get the server needs restarting. it just happens more than any other server. its also annoying how u need to be clicking around in spec, otherwise u dont get to play the arena. afk time needs to be increased

This.
People play gay enough as it is, they don't need even more of a reason to unadd/backpedal etc.

Remove elo, make it not all class and create a separate all class server, make it so that if people type the words “cheater” or “hacker” the server says “use !calladmin to summon an admin”

Working on the key words now, also looking to creating a stock mge server.

they're the inspiration behind all this elo talk and tbh they're even less enjoyable to play against than even bullet.

any chance of switching map to oihguv? would be super nice to have double blands mid and spire,

laz would hang himself if he wasnt able to play 11 hours of spire mge every night.

i'll be the contrarian: blaming elo for losing is (in most circumstances) just self-victimization. in the few circumstances where all factors relating to player skill can be accounted for & optimal play objectively deviates from optimal practice (e.g. shotgun denial on soldier-vs-soldier maps), removing elo will not fix bad behavior. if someone really wants to prove themselves, they're going to play optimally no matter what. have you guys not seen the steam profiles with lists of mge wins/losses? elo is hardly a factor to them; they have a twisted sense of improvement & will always care about the end result rather than the path to improvement.
elo is a pretty reliable metric to determine skill growth & to selectively determine who to fight for the best possible practice given whatever constraints you have in mind.
most importantly, the truly ideal way to accumulate elo differs greatly from public perception: you need to play hyper-aggressively and stifle your opponent so they do not have time to readjust. in most circumstances (which paradoxically includes when you or your opponent are low health), playing passively and/or backpedaling increases your risk of ruin non-negligibly. if you have a health advantage, the best thing to do is go in for the kill.
overall, people need to stop feeling self-important over a video game (no matter what mode), to stop getting insulted when they die, & most importantly to stop talking shit.
it's ok to die in a video game about killing one another.

I'm going to throw this out there and see what happens. Ive been working on a casual system for mgemod. Ill be honest I don't want to remove the elo system and here is why. I'm on re-surf quite a bit I'm rank 600 out of 70000ish. If the owner said one day; hay I'm removing the ranking system i would be quite disappointed and down in the mouth about it. I see many people who take the elo score seriously and just as many who hate it with a passion. My personal idea on this is a casual system, for example when you join an arena, say badlands mid; and you don't want to loose elo score do !casual. This will prompt your opponent to also ask for a casual match, if both agree then that arena for that match will not calculate / save the scores. ALSO! I'm looking at a system to block specific classes biased off of preference; for example again, your the first in an arena and you don't want to deal with nonsense heavy, pyro, so on, !whitelist and select only the classes you want your opponent to select. Now obviously this is not going to be structured out and done overnight Ive got many things going on at once and this is something that i would personally like to see. Let me know your thoughts...

maybe have some way to remove yourself from rankings so you're not worth anything instead of removing elo or casual?
i feel like the problem with both of these options is they're too easy for people to abuse to be an ass or cause problems. maybe whitelist standard classes across the board and let !casual allow nonsense classes so the people that want to focus on core 6s classes dont have to put up with snipers and heavy, but anyone goofing around with friends or whatever have the option to play.

This and engineer (mainly because level 2/3 sentries are a near instant loss for the other player once they're built in that arena)
Also in the event that ELO is staying in the [AS] servers, can the ELO that a player has stick with them across the other [AS] servers? If this is already a feature, then ignore this
