downpourbringing up country economies doesnt make sense to me, if you cant afford something you dont do it, doesnt matter where you are or what kind of family you were born into. NA isnt exactly in a good economy at the moment, even though its recovering, i have friends who couldnt afford to play in ESEA even if they wanted to, so they dont. thats it.

the reason people are bringing this up is because the competition is free. and if a significant number of people cannot afford esea that's going to stunt its growth.

#39 ESEA League S15 - EU TF2, MAIN DIVISION $90k+ in Prizes in News

#37

etf2l divisions are fairly even. euro players are used to that and won't be eager to pay to get curb-stomped.

#38

I know, and I'm not criticizing esea for doing that. I'm simply saying that anyone outside of prem has no incentive to join beyond "we like esea and want them in europe"

and getting players to feel that way is not going to be easy, considering things like the bitcoin scandal, shitty esea servers and simple inertia. even if esea had a full league like in NA, people who know they won't get 1st place (aka 95% of teams) would have no incentive to switch. The benefits of ESEA, LAN and prizes, are only a factor at the highest level.

tldr : why pay when we've been getting all this for free ?

I don't really see an incentive for any EU teams lower than prem to play in esea

going to get wrecked by top teams+have to pay+no chance of getting prize

#99 i49 Casters! in LAN Discussion

A lot of the hate Mia gets is due to the fact that she's casting on the main european stream. Nobody starts out knowing how to cast and bashing on her because she's new is unfair. But learning should be done on a private stream while getting feedback from people who've specifically decided to watch that stream. Instead it's being done on a stream which is one of the public faces of comp TF2. People watching VTV expect certain standards to be met, and Mia's casting does not.

It doesn't help either that some people believe that she gets to cast just because she's a girl and friends with the VTV guys. I'm too ill-informed to have an opinion on that.

LuckyLukeI'll take a look at those errors, thanks!

Czech, German and Portuguese are progressing well. Still need some help with Dutch, and I think Russian can be good to have as well!

found another, I'll keep them posted here

anyone else finding errors can edit it too

Arx and beta's interview is so ungrammatical and disjointed. It's a nightmare to translate.

edit : where shall we report errors in the original subtitle ? at 5:05 you left out "I think Knoxx"

edit 2 : from pure's interview, what the fuck does 'corky' mean ?

fun fact : google translates scrim as 'mousseline' : instant mashed potatoes.

and harbleu's name is apparently anothony

#8 Powerjack update -> pyro viable in 6v6? in TF2 General Discussion

speed does not equal mobility

the medic has higher base speed than soldiers and demos and is less mobile

detonator jumps are laughable and involve the pyro trading his primary damage source (secondary) for a shit weapon

besides this does nothing to solve the fact that pyro cannot spam and has awful range

furthermore what class would you swap for a pyro ? roamer or scouts means crippling the flank and taking a shitton of heals away from the combo

pocket pyro means godawful ubers and your med getting destroyed by scouts at mid range and a basically useless combo in open areas

so no not a viable option, and it will never be unless pyro is completely reworked

duderIt'd be really cool if we could do that, but I think after the KK debacle w/ the LoFi Valve won't be letting any groups give items out again in the future.

What's that ? I never heard about any issues.

skyrideI lost all my stats when my server accidentally'd itself and the hard drive died.

But bassically, viewership wasn't growing all that much, but the quantity of casts and streams was increasing rapidly. For regular streaming viewership, it's about 5x what it was at this point last year.

i49 will be the big tell. We peaked at 6000 during the finals, see what happens this time.

However I'm a little confused. To my understanding the extv trip was primarily funded by the community in the form of donations. Isn't it a little bit unfair to ask for money again?

As I recall the donations were used to get LG and mix^ to i49, not extv.

Salamancer#6 What should I have written for the hype section, if not that? Keep in mind the purpose of that section is to quickly summarize a list of reasons to watch the video for someone who has little to no idea what he's looking at.

edit: Also I bet Enigma and Skyride have plenty of legit charts and graphs showing month on month growth in the community.

the graph is pretty telling
