Because im finding that i play on high ping servers alot these days cause of the fact that i play steel and i don't get to choose what server we are playing on, i was wondering if anyone has any tips on playing high ping.
lol, thats the thing, i dont always have high ping during matches, only maybe 1 third of the time, so it would be irrational to get used to it if its less than 50 percent of the time that i play on high ping.
I don't always need to play in ESEA matches, but when I do campus Internet shits itself and I get 200 / 500 ping.
What class do you play? With projectiles? lolgoodluckhavefun. With hitscan maybe lag compensation will smile ever so brightly on your shoulders like it does for Powah.

Yeah just get used to it, try dming on servers you ping higher on instead of just local low ping servers.
If you're scout: try adjusting your cl_interp to a higher value. It's not necessary but if you adjust the interp to roughly half your ping it gives you more of the illusion of low ping hit reg.
If you're medic: don't hold onto ubers quite as long as you might normally. Be very alert and take less chances with full charge because you're much more likely to drop when the response time is so much slower.
If you're demo or soldier: gl

If you play demo or soldier, play a bit of Tribes ascend.
Increasing interp helps, as mentioned. If you go an explosive class, you'll need to get used to the messy fire delay.
Worst case-scenario: at least sentry guns are server-sided!
Nin2246If you play demo or soldier, play a bit of Tribes ascend.
I think that will screw over your aim quite a bit, what with the wonky projectile inheritance and all. Unless they fixed it after the beta.

the day of your match play on some euro servers, even just pubs for maybe an hour or so.
I play with 150ms+ everyday, all you can do is to get used to it, play on high ms servers everyday as much as you can. If you play hitscan classes like scout, heavy or sniper it won't be a major problem, you won't be able to avoid splash damage because your pratical reaction time will be delayed, that's all. If you're playing demo or soldier or even spy you're screwed, it's very hard to handle projectiles because they are shot from where you were positioned a few ms before, and stickies won't register most of times due to that delay.
