Recently, I got the Quake textures/Flat world textures just because I think they look cool and I hear it gives a slight FPS boost. However, since I've installed it, it seems to work selectively. I went to a valve server yesterday to test it, and it worked, and then I went to another valve server later and it didn't work. It seems to alternate when it does and doesn't want to work.
This is also an issue for a custom skin I installed for the snipers SMG. It ALSO seems to randomly decide when it wants to work. Both are in my custom folder, the same place I put my HUD. Any suggestions?

Im really not sure, but sv_pure changes what custom material a user can use in a server. Maybe, for whatever reason, the Valve server that did not allow it had sv_pure 2 on? Try it on a local server with sv_pure 0/1 on and see if that works. Also, this is from my limited knowledge on this, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I tried taking your advice by making my own server and running it. The game ran my flat world textures on my own server on all sv_pure settings up to 2, which is normal, afaik. So I went into a Valve server, and my textures stopped working again. I typed sv_pure in console to see what turned up, and the server was set to sv_pure 1. So, it seems that particular setting is NOT what's affecting the textures. Any other ideas?

all valve servers are sv_pure 2 as of the latest update.
they used to be sv_pure 1. If you are gonna use quake textures you just have to deal with it

How Valve configures their servers has nothing to do with the default configuration. Also, that's "-2", not "2". I'm pretty sure there's a difference, but -2 probably reverts to 0 anyway.

I apologize. I wasn't thinking and assumed valve servers use default settings.
