Any FPS performance increase is a good news considering how heavy to run TF2 is.

They could invest the time optimizing it for windows too. I don't think I'll uninstall windows because I use it for too many other things and dual booting for a game is dumb.

#5, iirc, valve is experimenting hardcore with linux because Newell hates the living crap out of windows 8, so they are wanting to get ahead in case big games start being offered on linux.

as an ardent linux user and sysadmin i'm honestly excited to see if this pans out and actually helps graphics support for linux not be a shitfest. but if this ends up being a dead project i'll just stay on win7.
