wow you guys are welcoming... I guess I landed on the wrong site no? I mean all you did was cut me down and didnt even add anything constructive. I really dont get that. I am new to this site obviously and was just looking for some people to join our new clan but guess a few bold words and underlined text threw you all off. Tried to make it easier to pick out the keypoints that our clan has but guess you didnt get the memo?

I think that you should try to split up your ideas into paragraphs. Even though it'll still be a wall of text, it'll be much easier to read. Large walls of text are intimidating to read. Adding spacing between ideas and concepts helps people feel less intimidated by a post. Also, proper grammar is pretty important, since having poor grammar is generally makes people look down upon your writing.

Also, I said it was awkward bolding because of how the server IP and your email are like 9/10ths bold/underlined/italics instead of the whole thing. I understand why you'd want to bold the other parts, but it'd be better if you made a spaced list of some sort instead of bolded parts in the middle of your huge paragraph (if it was spaced out and multi-paragraph it'd look much better). The bold also highlights the poor structure of your lists, since the forward slashes include long clauses.

Anyways, you should try to run a spell/grammar check on your text so that it can catch some mistakes like melle instead of melee. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Whoa, that escalated quickly. Using expletives when you're new a community makes you look unprofessional and attracts bad attention towards your organization (in this case, server/clan). First impressions matter a lot, you shouldn't be so rash (especially since that language was uncalled for, nobody actually insulted you). I was only trying to give you constructive criticism on how to post something like that :(.

normally pretty accepting? Thats some BS. I am a member of several forums and have never had any responses like the first 4 I got on this site. Absolutely pathetic. It makes no sense why someone would do that? I spent 30 minutes writing that post trying to inform others about our new clan/server/site and that shit straight pissed me off. Especially being new here and being able to offer something back to the community here and get shot down like that is crazy.

You draw your conclusion of our community before you post and from other forums that seem in your opinion to be bad. So your coming here already with a bad mindset. Just because people post "o" or "hello" doesn't mean we think this is stupid. This usually means format so we can read (if you just saw that idk if you would be jumping with joy). Those comments mean you have some people interested and might look it up.

And after that outburst people will not try your server because they have better things to do.

I spent 8 years in the US military and Im a big boy trust me. I have a shit ton of my spare time invested in this so far and did not appreciate what was said. It is not easy starting up a clan and all that goes with it so I was kinda looking for responses like, hey man to make it better take off some of those god damn plugins u got" or "yo man you site really could use a message board" or something like that. for fucks sake I can take criticism all day long but u gotta atleast give me something to go by other than "holy fuck thats a big ass wall" and "the most awkward use of bold and underlined i have ever seen" what kind of responses are those? If you guys want a productive community it def. needs to be more constructive and inviting to new people. Seems like this site has potential but with assholes like those (myslef included) it can just tear the community apart.

Believe it or not, having a properly formatted post that's easy to read is actually pretty damn important. Dunno how those aren't valid criticisms to you.

Ok, i think the problem is your trying to cattier to everyone. This is a competitive community and it likes that. We've all (mostly) grown from out pub roots so we dont tend to care alot for it. If you want normal tf2 pubbers to play on it leave the rtv plugins on, if you want us which ins't that likely because we tend to be more interested in comp take all those of.

This site is focused on competitive gaming. Casual players are welcomed. Just note that the reason you are getting shit isn't because we think that your pub community is a joke. We think you are a joke and that's because of the way you presented yourself.

Well, honestly I come from forums that have moderators in them and do not put up with any of that stuff. So my reaction was harsh yes I do agree. It caught me off guard that's for sure. Maybe I needed to let off some steam or give you guys a good laugh? Who cares its just words right? Guess the next topic I post I will spell check everything and make sure that I have my big boy pants on.

This isn't even a dedicated Team Fortress 2 server... it's hosted from your own computer and you don't even have a decent upload speed.

Also posting a video of your children on the internet.. that just raises alarms for me.

Aesthetics matters, people are easily turned off by aesthetically unpleasing posts. The first like is the server IP and name, which I understand is important, but highly force. Usually there's some sort of greeting or catch first, not just the subject. Think about commercial and ads: what they're advertising comes after the catch phrase. Product placement is near the end only (I mean how many commercials on TV do you see have the brand and product first? Most of them come after the commercial). Having the post look clean and professional matters.

Unfortunately, it might be late to change the impression you've made by jumping the gun with the name calling. And it's just going to keep escalating because both sides are taking the provocation (you included). I think it should be important to be level headed even with people you don't like, especially when you admin a community. It could lead you to do things that make you seem power-hungry and such. Temperance is important.
