Why doesn't valve just adopt a capped diagonal FoV? Then aspect ratios would be a tradeoff instead of forcing you to use ones that don't fit your monitor in order to be the most competitive.

Anybody know why this isn't working? The game seems to force itself to 1920x1080 when I do fullscreen even though it stays at 1920x850 in borderless windowed. Here are my settings:

it didnt work for me when i had refresh rate different than default
if default on your monitor is 60 and you want it overclocked to 71, make a custom resolution with 60hz and put -refresh 71 in your launch options, thats how i made it to work

Yeah, so everyone would look like Olive oyl on 4:3. Not the best idea.

not while windowed as far as I know, only in fullscreen.

Im pretty sure skeej made some kinda program that would add black background when you played windowed. this was a few years back so I cant find the thread again. Might be worth asking him for it.

Download link is dead, i had the script on my old pc that also died. Might be lucky and ask someone from the thread, but its really old
Edit: i think you can disable and enable desktop with autohotkey script on button press, maybe try googling that and find somethibg useful.
And razer game booster had "disable desktop when gaming" option last time i've used it.
