Problem with new headphones

So I just got the Sennheiser HD 558 headphones, and they sound great. That is, until I go into a game.

When I listen to music or anything on Youtube they are fine, but once I go into TF2 or CSGO, the audio seems to get distorted. It'll be okay for a few seconds, and then normally once I shoot a rocket or something, the sound gets tinny/drowned out and distorted. As a note, I am plugging them into my Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening, seemingly only in games? Is it the headphones, sound card, etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Uh, I actually think I fixed it right after I posted this lol

In my audio settings, it was trying to force surround sound audio, so I switched it to stereo and it seems to be working alright now. If the problem comes up again I'll make note of it.
